Great food, Worst Service!! We went the day after New Years, Jan 2, 2010. The place was about 40% capacity. We ordered our food, drinks, and a large pie to go. First we had to wait 20 min for our drinks. I reminded the waiter several times, his excuse was that he had a table of 10 that just walked in. Finally drinks arrived, then we waited Another 55 min for our food. By then several tables were getting restless. The waiter was joking around with his friends, the waiter finally delivered our food buy it was to our neighbors who walked in 25 min after us. I noticed they had the same order we had. I mentioned this to our idiot waiter and he said "oh sorry" and went back to swap out our order. There was a hair in my meatball sandwhich. The food was decent... I asked for the check and my large BBQ chicken pizza pie to go, but it still wasn't ready (over an hour since we ordered it) After waiting another 30 min I was fed up. I walked up to the register where I heard 3 separate customers complaining about wanting a refund. One man said he ordered a slice of pizza (just 1) and he still didn't get it in over an hour! The short waitress gave him a refund and a real attitude. Finally a guy in a goatee walked up to me and said "what's up with you?!" - not in a "what's up bro, what can I do for you?" but in a "WTF do you want" way. I was offended and I told him he should be a little more respectful because a lot of angry customers are behind me, and that we were waiting over 1.5hr for our food. He rolled his eyes, went in the back and got the pizza, dropped it in front of me and walked away. The big waitress who worked there started to handle the next customers complaint and she didn't even aknowledge me. I told her I thought her staff was very unprofessional and rude. She didn't care and ignored me. All I wanted was an apology for the bad service and the long wait I had to deal with. I had the man behind me comment to his wife "Never never again will I come here" I agree with him? I will NEVER return here.

Yummy! Great prices, lots of different options to choose from and they are fast. I have done delivery and pick up and both were done in a timely manner. The pesto chips are super tasty, the Blue Dog's version on the Hawaiin is really good and so is the chicken pesto and your basic pepperoni. My little guy is a picky eater and he ate so much of that pepperoni pizza, I was shocked. The only downer? The gal, who was up at the front, had her head down and never acknowledged me. Some guy from the kitchen came out and he was super friendly and attentive, but still-if you are at the front-maybe you should pay attention to your surroundings? Whatevs-No big deal in the grand scheme of things. Definitely check it out and give it a go!

Nothin like a warm pie in cold tahoe weather. It was pretty pricey considering the size and.. well, it being a pizza (22 bucks) but the bbq chicken pizza was much better than I expected. Little too heavy on the sauce and too light on the chicken but other than that it was great. I'd compare it to more of a roundtable style pizza than anything else. The service was great as well.. nothing amazing but they were all courteous and laid back . For some reason, they advertise as located in "Raleys" but they are around the corner from Raleys.. Last note.. the pitcher of beer is about 12 bucks and the pitcher looks like its been shrunk. Probably enough for 2.5 beers rather than your ~4 beers. Id get a 30 pack from Raleys and drink elsewhere:)

Seriously some of the best pizza I've ever had. We tried the BBQ pizza, white sauce with sausage and one with marinara with pepperoni. All were amazing. It's all about the dough and everyone ate the crust. Friendly delivery guy, he ran up 40 stairs in seconds. A must if craving good pizza.

Order the Roma calzone, so good!!! The greek salad was pretty nice too. It's not the best pizza ever, but it is definitely the best of South Lake Tahoe. * I have never gotten delivery, pick up only & I have started to order online. Really easy and fast.

With near white out conditions outside we decided to check this place out in spite of some yelper's expressing concerns by slow service (pizza with spider webs). So, instead of ordering pizza we opted for the turkey basil sandwich and it was SUPERB! We especially enjoyed the crispy baked nature of the bread (French roll). Our son had the slice and salad which daddy promptly scarfed since Zach's not into salad at 5 years old. Turns out that the turkey basil sand. comes with a sandwich as well. The salad was sort of weak hence the 4 stars. Our server, Brittney, was such a sweetheart! Very polite, helpful and a caring individual. Try this place!

We went here as a last minute decision. The pizza ended up being okay, not worth the $22 price though, crust was very thin. Service was very good though!

A couple pizzas for the two of us took nearly 20 minutes. A little long if you ask me. The restaurant was only half full at the time. However, the taste doesn't disappoint. The service was alright, and the price can't be beat when they are having their half-off sale (forgot exactly what they called it). The restrooms were clean and the atmosphere was typical for a pizza joint. I would bump my review up to 4 stars if the food came a little quicker.

This is the second time we've had this pizza & it didn't disappoint. We had it delivered to our hotel & they were there with a delicious pizza within the time frame they told us.

We stumbled upon this place as we were walking around trying to avoid ridiculously overpriced food. We wanted something filling and cheap, and you can never go wrong with pizza! We got the mad dog(I think) and the primavera. I think they could have been a little more gracious with the toppings but they werent stingy. The pizza was cooked perfectly and a large was enough to share between 4 people. Great place for eating on the cheap! It's a short walk from the heavenly gondola :)

I am so pickey about pizza...but this is a good pie!! The herb crust was so nice...great texture! I would do take-out in a heartbeat when we are in SLT!!

We came in on a crowded Saturday night. When we asked for a table we were told at least 30 minutes, so we asked if we could sit at the bar while we waited. They said sure so we headed over. We ordered some beers and asked if we could order appetizers, and were told not if we were waiting on a table. We were not yet too hungry so we didn't complain, but 45 minutes later when we were not yet seated we went to check why and was told it would be at least another 30 minutes. We decided to eat at the bar at that point, and ordered 3 salads 3 pizzas, and another pitcher of beer. The Pizza was great, the salad was decent, but served on a small pizza pan. The salad fell right off the tiny lip helping explain the not very clean bar top. Only 2 pizzas showed up the 3rd order was not written down. These things happen, and they immediately got the pizza in and it was to us in no time at all, but still showed up over 2 hours after we got to the restaurant. None of that is the good or bad, its just there because it happened. We asked for water when the salad arrived. Then asked again when the pizza arrived. The 3rd time we asked she brought us all water. It was busy and loud, but 3 times is a bit much. The only time we saw our waitress was when she dropped something off or when we were able to snag her. I do not think she once asked how we were doing, and know for sure she never refilled our water after she finally brought it. When it came time to pay the bill, we did the math and left the bill plus exactly 15%. There is no way in hell we were giving her more, and most of us wanted to give her less. I personally put the last $3 in to make sure it hit 15%. As we were getting in the car she comes running out the door yelling at us. She wanted to know why we had left her such a bad tip. 15% may be the bare minimum now, but that is no reason to chase costumers out the door. By the time I got out of the car she was already back inside having stormed off after yelling at us. I called the manager (shift supervisor I think) and explained the situation. She said she would look into it but I have not heard back. We visited on 01/02/10 around 7.

The food at Blue Dog was good. I liked the variety of pizzas. Really good dough, soft and chewy! The service was a joke. Who in food service doesn't know what an Arnold Palmer is? And the brown ring around the plate? Explaining to me that it's accumulated oil is fine, but I'm still not eating off of it, no matter how much you try to guilt me out of returning a dirty looking plate. Once again, lousy service overwhelms good food.

I've been here twice and have eaten their Roma, BBQ Chicken, and Hawaiian pizza. I absolutely love pizza and this place made me leave full and happy. The staff is very friendly and they always try their best to keep the place clean. I've gone here during a slow time and super busy time and the service is great either way. Their Dog House Salad is also very good. I had it with their vinaigrette. What I did when they were really busy was order online before we went and by the time we grabbed a table our food was be ready after only 5 minutes of sitting down!

    (4)
  • Tiffany M.

Wow! Great pizza! We ordered two types (pesto and meatlovers) and nearly finished both of them even though we weren't that hungry! The service was friendly and quick.

    (5)
  • Sergio A.

This place lacks management and good service. Waiters are not friendly by all means. Now this is the second time in a row that they have gotten our order and bill wrong. Just an average pizzeria in a decent location. Do not recommend it.

  • Jeff L.

Good service and good prices. The pizza just isn't anything special though

  • Robert P.

Great pizza. Easy website to order from and key point::Free breadsticks if order online and take out. We place our order to be ready in two hours and it was fresh and ready to go when we got there. Great service will go back again

I ordered the hair of the dog pizza here two years ago. I got food poisoning and spent the next two days in my hotel room spewing from every direction. This was one of the worst experiences of my life. I seriously thought I was going to die and I couldn't even get myself to the hospital. The hotel kept calling the room asking if we needed an ambulance. In retrospect, I should have gone in the ambulance but I wasn't thinking clearly once severely dehydrated. Thank god for my girlfriend, Pedialtye and Jello. I have not been back to South Lake Tahoe since. We called the restaurant to let them know what happened and they said it was impossible for me to get food poisoning from their restaurant. They said all of the ingredients were frozen (as if that makes a difference). I had not eaten anything else that day. Thankfully, my girlfriend had a cheese pizza instead and was able to care for me.

It was a little tough to find this place as it is tucked back into a mini-mall, but once we found it, the pizza was excellent. We didn't try one if their gourmet pizzas - we just stuck with pepperoni and mushroom, but it was excellent. You have to be ready for noise as it's in a big open room, but I'm sure this place must be quite popular for delivery. Next time I'm in Tahoe, I'd definitely do this place again.

Good pizza, BBQ and Roma legit. Very accommodating to a large party and the Sugar Bowl was on tv. The Sugar Bowl.

  • Christina R.

This pizza was delious and the staff was nice. I would totally come back :) I did go with my family around lunch time so they had less people.

Ordered takeout. BBQ Chicken and Sausage/Pepperoni pizzas were excellent. Place is a bit hard to find as it is tucked around the corner in a big shopping center.

Ordered on the website while walking back to our hotel. Pizza arrived hot and fresh 5 minutes after we got here. Awesome pizza too. Thumbs up!!!

  • Lulu C.

Would have had 4 stars had it not been for the terrible service. We were sat promptly...and drink orders taken...then it was all downhill from there. We had to wave them over at least 3 times to get a refill, then more waving our arms around like maniacs to get more sauce, and finally to get the check..they never checked on us once..and there were 3 waitresses, 2 waiters. 3 tables, us included. That shitty. The food on the otherhand...awesome. We had a split pizza (starts @ $12) , my side hawaiian (though they def skimped on the amount of pineappes, ask for extra!) and my friend's side was the pepperoni & jalapenos. The pizza was hot, cheesy melty, and very very good..the crust has herbs in it for extra flavor. Definitely solid. CRISPY WINGS $7.99 Homemade Buffalo, Tangy BBQ or Spicy BBQ - with carrots, celery, and ranch. Wings were generous in portion, heavily sauced and very good.

Punctual and an easy to navigate web page but a few things went wrong to garner only 2 stars. 50% of the order was wrong. 75% of the order was not very good. 80% of the order was overpriced. 100% of the order was cold. Teach me a lesson to not check the pizza before the delivery lady leaves. Most of the yelp reviews for pizza places in South Lake Tahoe are pretty low so perhaps you're better off stopping by Safeway and getting some take-n-bakes.

The day has come... Oh yes it has! I have been holding off to write my 100th review for a very long time hoping it would be the pimpest of the pimp places.. Not to take anything away from blue dog because it is a very very very good pizza. I just thought it would be some place that completely stole my heart... Oh wait, that's me looking for my next bride. sorry. what I am trying to say is that the perfect 100th place really doesn't exist, like loyalty, but you keep on keepin on looking for very very very good places. so, the story goes like this... I had come here a few years ago with my little brother and friend since kindergarten, not sure if I know who that friend is anymore, but I digress... This is all about Blue Dog and MY 100th review! Work put me back into Lake Tahoe recently and this was the first place I thought to go to. So, if I could remember blue dog pizza from a few years back it deserved to be my 100th review! I sort of think it is only fitting a pizza place is my 100th because I seem to eat at a few of them! What I really like about blue dog is the thin crust and the cheese. Lots and lots of cheese! the crust is thin but not cracker thin.. just the way I like it. In addition to the sweet pizza, the staff is awesome! they were very nice to me at the bar even though the entire place filled up while they were trying to clean up and get out.. Guys and ski gals if you are looking for some good pizza Blue Dog is a great place to start!

This is where I go for pizza in Tahoe. Mostly it's awesome, Ooey gooey with cheese, and then sometimes just ok. Please....PLEASE tell everyone to put more pepperoni on the pie. One time, it averaged one pepperoni per slice and one slice was blank! Consistency would make me so happy. Ruff.

  • John K.

We are pizza lovers and judge towns we visit by the quality of their pizza. Blue Dog has good pizza. We like pizza with thin crust and well done. They were able to accommodate our request. Lots of choices in toppings and a nice casual place to eat.

  • Matt V.

Worst Place ever, heard Manager using profanity with a customer, horrible image to display in front of guests!! WOULD NOT recommend to anybody, he was rude, using discriminatory language towards the customer and just over all a bad place to be!! Never seen anything like that before, wanted to go in for pizza but left instead after seeing that scene!!! Do not take kids there with this kind of management, could only imagine how he takes care of his food if he can not even handle taking care of customers!!!

    (1)
  • Tyler T.

Not really family friendly, poor customer service! My experience consisted of confusion on whether this establishment was table service or order at the register. Everyone who worked there was in the back singing Happy Birthday for at least 10 minutes. When they finally did acknowledge us to tell us to sit in the back of the restaurant, it took another 10 minutes to take our drink order. When we placed a food order we were told everything we wanted was not possible. Having a 3 year old's picky appetite is difficult and we were willing to pay to customize our order, it's pizza for gosh sakes! The waitress told us that toppings could not be added(even if we paid) to the very limited(2 types) for lunch slices. Since that didn't work we thought we'd order a pizza, which could not be divided into three sections since my son only wanted pineapple, and that they would not make a pineapple/cheese slice for him. We got frustrated and left without ordering. It's pizza, it's easy to make you just add toppings, I don't get it?

Ordered take out pizza during our ski trip at Heavenly - above average take out pizza, but not worth the 4 star rating.

Pretty average takeout pizza. Does not live up to other reviews.

Best chicken wings in Tahoe. Pizza is outstanding!

Good pizza, great location and affordable. Thanks for not jacking up the prices for SLT.

Best pizza in South Lake Tahoe so far! We love it! Nothing else to say.

Found this place after a day of riding at Heavenly. Killer pesto chips and carnivore pizza!!!! 3 hungry bros full after pesto chips and a large pizza was all you could ask for! Good service too....

This is a neat pizza shop if you're not into paying outrageous prices at the resorts. This one is a bit hard to see, it's on the left of the plaza and there is a small pizza sign that lets you know it's there. Otherwise it would be easily missed. The atmosphere here is very casual. A few TVs showing different stuff like news and whatever. The prices are decent, and there are some games in the back of the restaurant. A billard table, some arcade machines and that's about it. I guess that's whats this place kid friendly. However, I find the billard table distracting at my last visit because the kid didn't like that he was losing. Very whiny, so if you're lucky, no whiny kids. If you're not, you would try to drown it out, or get out of there as soon as possible. As for the food, we ordered the Meat Lover and the Pesto Chicken. We absolutely loved the Meat Lover as it was very tasty. The Pesto Chicken wasn't great, maybe it's just me but the flavors were a bit bland. If you're lucky like me, you can order whatever you want for the daily special because they hadn't chose one for the day. Service I thought was just ehh... because it wasn't that busy during the time of day; I had to flag them down with my eyes after waiting for 10 minutes. Drinks also took longer than expected, at around 5 minutes after we gave them our order. No refills is what I interpreted since they sell drinks by the glass or by the pitcher. So a really mixed review. I would give them 4 stars if their drinks would have been fountain type, their service a bit more attentive. But it drops a star when you're hungry and you hear "Noooo, that's not fair, he's winning....."

My boyfriend and I are in Tahoe right now for our anniversary and our hotel manager suggested we try Blue Dog, so we gave it a shot. I love it! I got a pepperoni calzone and it was sooo delicious. They're huge too so you get your money's worth. I was really impressed and I'm definitely coming back. =) Food was fresh, warm and tasted amazing! lol The environment is nice too, really chill and fun employees. If you're heading to Tahoe for some snowboarding or just relaxing, you should definitely stop by Blue Dog and grab some pizza.

I came in on a slow afternoon with my 4-year-old. I ordered a personal Walk the Dog pizza ("Creamy white sauce, chicken, fresh spinach, crispy bacon, garlic and mozzarella") and my daughter ordered a plain slice. The place was about 1/4 full, and our order took at least 25 minutes. What did we get for that fairly long wait? Well my pizza was freshly made, which explained the time spent. And it was delicious, with a nice balance of garlic and bacon. But my daughter's slice turned out to be a rubbery slab from under a heat lamp. She was fine with it, of course, but I know better. Verdict: mixed review.

Yum! "Walk the Dog" was a tasty pizza, and my waiter looked like Travis Barker- yummy! Great, friendly service, relaxed atmosphere.

Great atmosphere-casual and fun. My son thought the breadsticks were the best he's ever had (and he's had a lot of breadsticks). My spinach salad was outstanding. We will definitely be going back.

Took my children her for some pizza. Conveniently located if your staying in South Lake Tahoe. Pizza was good, not gourmet, but good. The kids liked it because there were games for them to play. I liked it because there were a couple of tv's with sports on. Good for groups.

  • Peggy O.

Wow, pizza that is good, creative and has you wanting more. My family and I had a small wedding/family reunion. We spent the afternoon bowling with kids of all ages and everybody loved the pizza we ordered from Blue Dog. They even made a cheese-less pizza for those lactose intolerant members. The BBQ chicken was a fav. If you order your pizza a day ahead of time they will give you a 10% discount. Just order early. We did, but in the confusion of it all the 10% was forgotten. Still great time and the staff is incredibly friendly. Perfect apre-ski, apre-lake crash at the cabin pizza.

Best pizza &price in South Lake!

The fried chicken wings are the bomb! Not to mention the pizza. My boyfriend and I always make a point to stop here.

    (4)
  • Chris K.

Did delivery this time...the pie arrived hot and 15 minutes earlier than promised! The only thing keeping me from 5 stars is the price and lack of coupons available. Still the best pizza we've tried in SLT. DD still approves, she was able to eat 2 whole slices!

    (4)
  • Polly W.

Excellent dining experience! Our waitress, Kaitlin, was very friendly and saved us money by charging us the price of a build your own "special" even though we ordered a regular pesto chicken pizza. The cheesy bread appetizer was delicious: yummy cheese and crispy bread. The pizza was perfect! The servers were attentive and helpful.

  • AKA A.

Great pizza!!! The chicken wings are nice and crispy and the staff is really friendly!!! Gourmet Pizza for reg pizza price!!! Must hit in Tahoe!!!

    (5)
  • Sam K.

The staff are friendly but I have to remove 1 star because it took so long to get our pizza. The place get crowded and we feel sorry for those customer that waited very long for a table. People tend to watch TV and chat after a meal so if you want a table, come early. When you are hungry everything taste nice so I cannot complain about the food. Good location next to Heavenly Gondola.

I love blue dog! It's the highlight of any trip to south lake tahoe. The buffalo chips are amazing and the lunch special is a great deal! A great place to stop when you're starving after a day on the hill.

  • Christina D.

Ok so this review is for the location that's in the bowling alley...the pizza should be the same so I guess it doesn't matter. I have no idea what the name of the pizza chips thing was (someone else ordered it) but it was soooooo good! It tasted cheesy, with a hint of blue cheese sprinkled, and a hint of pesto. Whatever it was I will definitely be back for more!

  • Rich C.

We ordered takeout from here and were very impressed. We ordered the Tahoe Supreme for the adults, and a personal pepperoni pizza for the kids. the quality of the pizza is very good, and the dough was fabulous. We also ordered the Hawaiian chips, which is basically a non-meat pizza, cut into bite size pieces. It was very tasty, and at $5.49, a cheap appetizer. We will definitely return.

    (4)
  • Stephanie O.

First of all, the service was really good, they were really friendly even though they were busy and I took a while to order. I ordered a Walk the Dog, and it was one of the best pizzas I have ever tasted. It wasn't overly greasy like most pizzas and had the perfect amount of ingredients on top. I don't normally like pizza crust, but it was so flavorful and good here that I ate it all with pleasure. I think this is the only pizza place I'll go to from now on in South Lake.

  • Al B.

Best pizza I had during this trip to Tahoe. I loved the crispy bacon topping and the tasty crust. A little hard to find but worth looking for!

    (4)
  • Scott B.

Great pizza. We asked them to make the crust thin. They did a great job. The pizza was excellent. The sauce was very good. My girlfriend had the Greek pizza and she loved it (feta cheese, olives, artichokes).

    (4)
  • Jessica W.

We were in town this past weekend and wanted pizza on Saturday night. We got the BBQ chicken pizza and it was fantastic! The crust was the perfect thickness and all of the ingredients went together so well. The bbq sauce was delicious and really made the pizza. We also go an order of cinnamon sticks which were also awesome. Even though they were slammed, the service was quick and very helpful. We will definitely be back!

    (5)
  • Wendy V.

More like 2.5 stars, but I'll round up since our sausage, mushroom, olive calzone was pretty good. The crust on the pizza was excellent, but something didn't taste right about the sauce. Too sweet/salty/something! Too bad....I was looking forward to a good pizza. The other issue is that we called for pick up....they said 20 minutes. We showed up and they said another 20 minutes. annoying!!!

  • Steven M.

We went to dinner here on our last little trip to relax and hang out. I can say we were really happy with the food, ambiance, and price. It was nice to finally sit down to eat pizza and let my son run around and play video games with the other kids and not have to worry about some moron trying to kidnapp him since everyone was well aware of people coming and going and just people watching out for your and there kids. When the waitress came over to take our order she was very friendly, and explained any ?s we had about the menu. We ordered 2 sodas, no coke, or pepsi in this place which does rock. We had an RC and Sunkist, a order or cheesy garlic bread sticks, and a small lake tahoe combo pizza. The crust is thin and very good. We also ordered a couple of Corona's to just enjoy with pizza. The bill with tip came out to be 20 bux. Very reasonable since round table has good pizza but horrible prices. We will be eating her again, for sure!!! If your looking for a great deal this is it. $2.00 beers, and pizza slices from 3 - 5.

  • Charlie N.

this was actually our 3rd choice, we wanted round tables but they wouldnt deliver to our hotel by stateline. so we asked the hotel staff where we could find good pizza so as we were looking for the staff recommendation we couldn't find it and found this place instead. We ordered two large pizzas for 8 people (half were girls). we got the lake tahoe supreme and a custom sausage, mushrooms, and olives. Pizzas were good, each large pizza was about 22 bucks so its a bit pricey, but if you come during certain hours you can get the second pizza for half off, and if you come during lunch you get two slice and a drink for like 5-6 bucks not bad.

UPDATE: You still have a few weeks before their 50% off entire menu by 2pm daily special ends!!!! Makes it all worth it!

After paying $24 for a pizza, you would think it would stand out a little...but very ordinary..I've had lots better for a lot less $$

    (2)
  • Ralph M.

Pizza here is pretty good, the one with spinach and bacon and the creamy sauce is very good. BBQ chicken is worth trying as well. It is pricey though, over $20 per pie when tax and all is added. Definitely worth a try though, grab a pie and some beer and run across the street to a movie or down the way to the casinos for a night of fun.

We were in Tahoe for my mom's 50th birthday in August 2009. Part of her celebration was an informal dinner night which consisted of Blue Dog Pizza. When we picked up the pizzas the atmosphere in the pizzeria was great. There were many families and couples, it was so nice and the staff were very helpful. When we took the pizzas back to our cabin we were amazed at how great they tasted. The crust was very tasty, the sauce was great and the toppings were savory. Give this pizza place a try. It is affordable and very tasty.

Still the best pizza in Tahoe. BBQ Chicken pie with extra cilantro is a can't miss, as is the Spinach & Artichoke chips.

Right near the Heavenly gondolos & next to Raleys Grocery store you will find Blue Dog Gourmet Pizza. Between the location and the taste, this place gets 5 stars. When you walk in you may or may not be assisted (not professional though what do you expect from a snowboarding mentality resturaunt). My guess is a bunch of stoners work there, from what I experienced. No biggie it was very laid back and relaxing. Once we sat ourselves the waitress came over promptly. We ordered the greek salad, buffalo wings 10piece, and a personal size hawaiin pizza. The greek salad was on the small side for 6bucks but was absolutely delicious. Had a true authetic greek taste. The buffalo wings were crispy and spicy. The personal pizza was pretty big ( almost the size of a small pizza) and was extremely cheesy. The price for all this was $30 with tip and was well worth it. These 3 items can feed 2 adults. Good job Blue Dog

Great pizza in a relaxed atmosphere. We had the Chicken Pesto pizza and Blue Hawaiian pizza! I can see why locals and tourists alike would enjoy this place after a long day on the slopes. You can create your own "traditional" pizza or try one of their gourmet pies!

After reading some Yelp reviews and noticing how near it was to the hotel I was staying at, I decided to come pick up a pizza for dinner for my family and I. We ordered a large, half BBQ Chicken half Combo. Since I placed my order online, we also got an order of free breadsticks. Overall we were satisfied with our order. The BBQ Chicken really hit the spot after a long day of walking and driving. I took the pizza order to-go but this place has ample seating room, as well as friendly service. Definitely recommend this place!

Blue Dog pizza is pretty good, quite possibly the best in South Lake Tahoe. I would give them a five except they don't deliver to Zephyr Cove, which is only 5 minutes from South Lake Tahoe. Don't you guys want my money? It's right here, I will give it to you. Just drive me over a pizza!

Pizza joints are usually all the same. Add some video games, a bunch of televisions screening some extreme sports videos and a pool table and you are guaranteed to attract a wide variety of people: sporty dudes, families, etc. Since the Blue Dog is in the "tourist" area you can pretty much assume that the prices will be higher than if you were located out farther. We ordered a pizza off the menu of goodness that had a bunch of tasty pizza topping combinations. The pizza looks huge on the menu but the end result was a fairly small one, though it was considered the largest. Nonetheless it was tasty! A bit too doughy on the crust for me, but overall the flavor was good. Everyone seemed to enjoy the pie and combine it with a pitcher of Fat Tire Ale and a low crowd count, and you have one good experience. I am a pizza snob and have had better of course, but I would recommend it anyway.

We recently reserved the entire bowling alley and decided to have Blue Dog Pizza provide the food for everyone since it is located in the facility and basically super convenient. Around 70 people attended so not a small gathering. We had never been to the area, let alone had even one bite of food at Blue Dog prior to booking our date. Risky to say the least! WOW is all I can say!!! The place was AMAZING! Staff was over the top helpful, food was perfection, the set up and timing of the pizzas coming out were spot on, and everyone raved over the pizza! We will for sure be visiting again and again!!! Big props to the entire staff at Blue Dog, thanks for making our special event stress free!

Holy Crap! Seriously that is what it tasted like. If I ever find the person who recommended this place I will take them down. It tasted like baby crap served with a side of vomit. Seriously - I honestly was wondering what do they do to there pizza? I didn't think it was possible to have crappy pizza. I feel like they were missing 3/4 ingredients but said forget it lets just put together a side of vomit and baby diarrhea and sell it to dumb tourist. YUCK

We stopped here after a movie and had a great experience. The food was really good, the service, enthusiastic, helpful, attentive and friendly. We coincided with a big, noisy group of high school sports teams and every effort was made to make us comfortable and at the same time keep from infringing on their fun.

The pizza here is the best pizza delivery in Tahoe. That ain't saying much. We have ordered from other pizza delivery places in South Shore and been sorely disappointed. The pizza was hot, we asked for well done and it was, crust was okay (not too doughy, but not great), and the guys on the phone were nice and courteous. Definitely not "baby poop" with a "side of vomit." Perhaps not the best pizza (it is really surprising that it is so hard to get really good pizza in snowboarder/stoner mecca of Lake tahoe) but definitely edible and enjoyable. Also...Blue Dog is much better than Round Table or Dominos, nice to support LOCAL business. I picked up at their Raley's Center location and was pleasantly surprised...clean, lots of youngish snowboarderish employees, pool-tables and video games. Nice place to take the kids or hang out over a pitcher of beer.

I love lil pizza joints. They are always better than the big chains, and Blue Dog is definetely better. Good pizza, good beer, decent service and great location. 4 of us had a large and took a few slices back to the hotel for snack time later. Will return.

The pizza was ok, nothing to brag about. However the customer service was terrible. We had to hunt down the waitress several times to get extra plates, water, napkins. Pretty annoying when you're in a group and forced to pay 18% gratuity which was not deserved. Can't imagine myself coming back here next time i'm in town.

Okay, so I was surprised to come home from Tahoe and check out the reviews for this place to see it had only earned a 3.5-star average. Then I read the reviews and it looks like we have two "review trolls" that rated this place a 1-star along with a scathing rant without much substance. Oh well. Anyhow. A friend and I had just finished walking around all the various stores in the area and decided to try Blue Dog pizza. It was my first time in Tahoe and we had never heard of it before, but we were willing to take a risk. You know when you go into a random pizza place often times it's bad to mediocre pizza served by sweating immigrants with a side dish of cold customer service. Right? Or maybe that's just my bad luck... Not the case here at Blue Dog anyway, as all the staff seemed to be young, very friendly white kids. So we take a look at the menu and decide to try the regular sized pizza with 3 toppings and an order of the garlic pizza chips (they're like flavored pizza dough wedges). While waiting I finished my drink (I was thirsty!) and without having to ask or wait on anyone, our server noticed and came right away to see if I wanted a refill. So extra points for the attentiveness. So our chips arrive first with some ranch. Very good. Probably what you would expect. A few minutes later and our pizza was done. We both agreed the pizza was great. Good, fresh toppings, good cheese, great sauce and an awesome crust. We had the regular sauce (there are about 4 different types of pizza sauce to choose from). There was plenty of sauce, it did not all burn off in the oven like most places. The crust was really good, it has a nice thin crunch on the bottom of it. The whole experience made us wish we had a franchise out where we live. Tahoe is a bit too long of a drive for pizza for us, lol. All said, we will definitely find a reason to come back to Tahoe and when we do I'm sure we'll be stopping in again.

We went this past weekend and decided to dine in over eating it in our hotel. The pizza was good but I think the guy that was helping us was stoned or something..he kept forgetting things..gets our order and drinks and 25 mins go by and he comes back with a pizza..sets it down and goes " oh this isn't yours!" and takes it back..then comes back and says "oh i didn't get your drinks and btw that pizza is yours" and comes back with our pizza and drinks..then after all is said and done he comes over and ask's if we are ready for a check and we say yes...two minutes later he is sweeping the floor and talking to some other guy...15 mins later..he's still sweeping the floor and talking to the dude..and we have no check..finally we ask someone else for our check..again pizza good..guy helping us= stoner.

Good pizza & salads and great service. We called for a carry out order 15 minutes before they closed; they were very kinda and had our pizza and salad ready in 10 minutes. Food was good and portion size were large. Highly recommend.

so the boyfriend and i were walking around the downtown area after we went wine tasting... bored, drunk and hungry i asked one of the shop girls where I could find the BEST pizza in town, yknow where all the locals go. there was no pondering involved when,"Blue Dog!" jumped through her lips!!! we almost started running to the car with the taste of garlic and cheese on our palettes. we walk in and its relatively crowded. we changed tables 3 times till we ended up at the bar. keep in mind each table we sat at we were there for maybe 5 minutes. after deciding on bar seating we patiently wait another 10 minutes for someone to pour us a beer and another 10 on top of that for someone to take our order. 30 flippin minutes have passed and we get to take our order!! Ridiculous!! We had a really great seasonal Fat Tire called 2 Below. I would definitely tap that!! hahah!! We look around and the place starts to fill up even more, people grow impatient and I feel like I am about to watch a riot. One of the beer kids told me that 4 people didnt show up for work that day and they were super slammed. My boy and I have been in customer service jobs so we were just being cool as cucumbers. We did eventually ask how much longer the wait was going to be, politely ofcourse. It was brought out momentarily. I do get bothered when i see people who came after us get served quicker, but whatever. It finally arrived basking in all of its cheesy glory!! We ordered a half galic and tomato pizza and half pepperoni and basil!! oh man it was off the hook!!! thinner crust that was still doughy and delightful, cheese that tasted baked but melty and gooey on the inside, fresh vegetables that still had their flavor and ice cold beer to pair with it. Worth the wait!! This pizza is so damn good I waited 1 hour and 35 minutes for it. They did end up giving us our 4 beers for free and discounted the pizza for being so cool and patient, which I hella appreciate. I wish they would have told me it would be so long , I may have taken advantage of their juke box or pool tables. I definitely will come back in the event I am back in Tahoe.

Completely disappointed in their delivery service. I've never received pizza stacked (slices of pizza laid on top of one another) in a styrofoam take out container. Yes, we wanted thin crust, but when you are delivering hot pizza that's not in a pizza box, it will get soggy and stick together which it did. It was a pile of pizza! They were highly recommended by the hotel, so we thought it was a good idea. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Maybe dining in is the way to go, but if you are only able to have delivery, I would go with another place.

I have taken away one star due to the horrible service I received this week. This was our first meal on our trip and we ordered online at 7:26 pm. I heard that pizzas usually take 20 minutes. At 8 pm, I inquired how long I should expect for my online order and was told 15 minutes. Guy went to check on pizza for me, they all seemed way to busy to help a customer who was not seated, as no one was consistently at the cash register. It was pretty busy there, so I was patient. After 8 pm, I hail a guy down and he offers to check to see if the pizza is ready and tells me it's going in the oven, will be 6 minutes. After 15 minuted I check back and they have a pizza for someone with a name that sounds similar to mine. She gets her pizza and leaves. I have to ask again, they say it's in the oven. Now it's 8:40 pm and I ask for my pizza again. No one is paying much attention to the fact that I've been waiting there standing for a long time. They guy goes and gets it off the shelf and I had to tell him that pizza had been there for a quite a while. He offers to put a new one in and have it for me in 6 minutes. This is poor compensation for my long wait and lack of attention from staff. My family is starving at this time and we still have to walk back to the hotel, so we take out tepid pizza back to our room. The veggie pizza was tasty and my daughter enjoyed the free cinnamon dessert sticks they offer for online orders. Those free bread sticks do not make up for the service I received. We would have returned again if the service was not so horrible. For the price of the 14 inch pizza (over $20), we'd get a delicioius, hot, and larger pizza at home, so expect to pay more for your food in Tahoe and if you go to Blue Dog, don't expect good service or a hot pizza. I would not return again.

Great place. Awesome pizza/salad. I thought the service was great also. After hitting all the shops/art galleries near there we were getting a bit hungry. One of the art gallery salesmen recommended this place so we went in with kids in tow. Kids loved the pizza, and so did we!

I ordered a walk the dog and a pepperoni pizza via delivery and both were very undesirable. The chicken on the walk the dog tasted old and frozen and overall the both pizzas were tasteless. There was very little cheese or pepperoni on the pep pizza. When I looked at the pizza it looked like it was missing cheese at first untile I realized there was a cheese like glaze over the sauce. And not every piece of pizza had pepperoni. I'd rather get a Little Caesars pizza before I order from here again. It was that gross.

Blue Dog is an AWESOME place to swing in and grab a pie. Stopped in here after a day on the slopes, when the wife and I were craving a pizza. This place is definitely chill, with a ton of tables and even a bar area for everyone to hang out and enjoy. They got a ton of flatscreen TV's to watch the game, and a small arcade area for the kids to play some games. Was super happy to see they had a couple beers on tap- so the wife and I had a cold pint of Coors Light while waiting for our food. They have a ton of different specialty pizzas available, and a LOT of them sounded good. Of course you could always make your own- but I ended up going with a calzone, and the wife got a personal sized chicken garlic something or other. WOW these things were awesome. Calzone was cooked perfectly, a nice crisp to the outside of a soft dough, and stuffed with delicious pepperoni, mushrooms, and melted ooey-gooey cheeze. Wife's pizza was also delicious. Sauce was great, crust was great, toppings were great, everything was spectacular. Service here was also top-notch, our server was cool, attentive, and got everything right. Restaurant and restrooms were clean. Overall, a GREAT place to get some pizza, especially if you got kids. If you're staying in the Tahoe area, stop in sometime and grab some dinner one night, or at least get some to bring home. Definitely glad we stopped in here.

Decent Chicken Wings AWESOME salads (try the spinach one but with sun dried tomatoes) which are super cheap for the amount you get. My friends loved their Cesar salad. Their pizza combos are yummy: try the basil tomato or the garlic, jalapeno and sausage pizza They have fat tire on tap as well as other "usual" beers you would find at a pizza parlor. There are a couple of tvs so you can watch the games during your meal. Tons of spots to sit... major plus for having paper towels automatically at each table. They also deliver to most parts of South Tahoe which kicks ass. Just be patient.. they have several locations and you have to go through an automatic phone system.

Came here to dine-in and have some beer and pizza!! Ordered one of their specialty pizzas and some buffalo chips to start. I don't know why they call them "chips" because they are basically smaller, thinner slices of pizza!! It was very good, pizza dough brushed with buffalo wing sauce and some cheese & baked in the oven til crisp, but they weren't chips! Our pizza had a good crust and all the toppings tasted fresh. Nothing spectacular, but it was decent. Actually, everyone thought the "chip" pizza was better. Service was fine, no complaints there. Atmosphere was blah. They have games and a pool table towards the back of the restaurant, some high tables in the front, booths and low tables in the center and a half-assed "bar" running along the counter in the pick-up/pay area in the front. Kind of a random set-up. But most pizza joints aren't known for their ambiance, I guess.

I'm a glutton for Blue Dog Pizza. We eat here pretty much every time we are in Tahoe which means at least 3 times a year. Last time we stayed across the street at the Marriott Timberlodge & we ate here THREE times, I'm ashamed to admit! The salad was really great. I threw that in to balance out the other 2 pizzas and calzone! I love the BBQ chicken pizza & the garlic chicken, too. My hubby had a calzone & it was tasty. I definitely preferred the pizzas over calzones because I think they are too bready. The servers are pretty friendly over all & even though it gets pretty busy, we've never had to wait for a table or wait too long to get our pizzas. Order online to receive a free order of bread sticks! We did this when we took our pizza to-go (across the street at the Marriott, remember?) & although I needed dessert bread sticks like a hole in the head, you can bed we scarfed down every piece! Great pizza place that is walkable from the casino area!

I have never written a bad review but this pizza warranted comment.... We ordered the primavera pizza and when we opened the box it looked like a frozen pizza but skimpier! We paid $25.00 for nothing! We were given a smattering of olives, two slices of a mushroom, 3 slices of bell pepper, no tomato sauce and 4 anemic tomato slices on a large pizza. What a rip-off! I'm thinking the owner might be trying to make up for slow business this week by skimming from the customers. This pizza costs about $1.50 in ingredients and that is a generous estimate, ten minutes to cook and the 2 guys working there make roughly $9.00/hr so the labor cost around $2.00. I would have gone back in to complain but we were home and too tired and hungry to go back out... Do not waste your money here you are better off going to Raleys for a frozen pie for 1/4 of the price.

It was convenient to come here. We got a vegetarian kind of pizza and a meat-kind of pizza. I don't really remember which, but it came out fairly quickly and it tasted all right. The cheese was a bit rubbery, and nothing really stood out here. It's just any ordinary pizza place, except with faster service. Great if you're looking to eat something near/at Heavenly village for quick.

You might think I am crazy for giving a pizza joint a 5 star rating but if you read some of my other reviews, you know I know what I am talking about. It has been 3 years since we have been here and I have been dreaming about the "Hair of the Dog" pizza for just about as long. The service is great with a very young, helpful and cute staff. they have great combinations of pizza so there is something for everyone. The pizza is a thinner crust and has the perfect amount of toppins per order. We went there for lunch today (1-27-2013.)

Definitely my favorite pizza in Tahoe. Good quality, good price, fast service, charming characters! Minor issue is that their large is not large enough.. just have to order two, I suppose. This is a kid friendly establishment. :)

I hold the five star rating as sacred and would never dispense one without merit. That said, Blue Dog Pizza earned their stripes and proved to be more than deserving of this rating. Thanks again to my fellow Yelpers for steering me in the right direction. After a sun filled day at the lake, what could be better than good company and pizza. There are several specialty pizzas on the menu that sound quite intriguing, but I kept it simple and went with pepperoni. I don't know what it is about the pizza or exactly what they're doing differently here, but this was truly one of the most memorable pizzas I've had in quite sometime. The crust definitely had a nice flavor to it that contributed to the overall amazing taste. Let me not forget to mention that I am generally a deep dish kind of guy and though this pizza might not be truly considered a thin crust, it is certainly on the thinner side. Thin crust, thick crust, whatever, it does not matter here because this one is a winner by any account. In addition to the pizza I also had the Big Dog salad, Blue Dog's version of a typical house and it was very nicely done as well. I almost couldn't believe my ears when the waiter asked if RC Cola was okay because they didn't have coke. I am not sure there are a lot of RC fans out there, but the fact that Blue Dog is serving it from the fountain meant bonus points in my book. A fountain RC was the icing on the cake and just almost as enjoyable as the pizza itself. I was also impressed with the fact that Great White was on tap. If it weren't for the RC, I would not have been able to pass up a rare opportunity for GW from the tap. Aside from the great food, the service was very solid, the prices were quite reasonable and it was everything you would expect in an independent neighborhood pizza joints. I will be looking forward to my next Tahoe tip if for no other reason, a chance to return to Blue Dog.

I really like the pizza here, have never been disappointed. However, it is pricey and they charged me for like a tablespoon of ranch to eat with my pizza. I don't know why but I think that's so rude. I had to ask twice for it and then you charge me? Lame. I think the server was just trying to make the bill higher. Might go back but never dine in only take out.

We ended up here when the other pizza place we were looking for was gone... That's ok! This place was a very pleasant surprise! We had the Hair of the Dog pizza. I am not a fan of Canadian bacon, but it was really good! We also loved the green chili sauce on the pizza!

Most awkward experience ever! We sat down at a table and waited forever for a server. A young girl finally comes over and all she says is "just so you know, it's about to get really loud in here but you can stay if you want," we told her that was fine and we would stay and she asked us to move to a different table. We moved, waited about another 10 minutes and a different server approached and ask if we were waiting on a to go order. We said no, that we had been there for quite some time and were just wanting to order. They took our drink order then proceeded to wait on two other tables, which was fine, but then they started busing empty tables. We finally just got up and left.

After being totally disgusted at the (July 4th weekend) crowds everywhere else in South Lake/Stateline, we decided to stop in here. It was fairly busy, but I guess that being even the slightest bit "out of he way" (in Raley's and Baja Fresh's shopping center), people somehow overlooked them. Not only did we get seats right away, but within 2 seconds of walking-in, a guy welcomed us and told us the specials and how everything worked. At first, I was kind of taken back by the prices, but as long as you don't build your own pizza, as they charge $1.25+ per topping for anything over cheese, it works out fairly well. I ordered a "12 inch" (though that was clearly not accurate. 8 inches, at best.) French-bread pizza with 3 toppings and my girlfriend ordered a calzone with 3 toppings/fillings. They were both quite good. The calzone was sizeable, made-to-order and well seasoned. The French-bread pizza was very good and crispy...without having the sharp crust that French-breads tend to have. Everything was fresh and well-prepared and our service was surprisingly good, considering the seemingly out-of-the-way place that we were sitting. We both ate a fine lunch for just under $30. Maybe a tiny bit much for what it was, but we would both still return when we're in the area. I only went from 4 to 3 stars because of the, misrepresentation of the size of the French-bread pizza and the fact that, while trying to verify their footlong claim, nothing on their website, other than online ordering, was clickable. Really good and tasty, but needs a little TLC.

Two years in a row went to this place near Marriott vacation resort. First year waited 30 minutes to be helped. Food was good Second visit sat down and waiter said "be right there". Then he proceeded to help walk in counter people and others that would stop him on the way to us. While waitress was clearing tables instead of helping others get ordered. Two other tables complained we just walked out. Amazing how this place refuses to hire more help especially when crowded. Would like to give a good rating because food is good but worst service

Four and a half stars. Good pizza, tasty sauce, plenty of meat. I just prefer my crusts to be more thick. Also, a few of the times we've been there, the service was a little slow. Good ambiance, acceptable beer prices, and some really, really good pizza. I've been there every time I go up to Tahoe with friends. Order online and get yourself some free cinna or cheese sticks - it's totally worthy.

Blue Dogs has some of the best customer service I've ever experienced. The first time I ever came in here, I had the Walk the Dog and it was delicious. The waitress- I forget her name- was very upbeat and friendly. The other employee was cleaning the restaurant as they were preparing to close, and seemed to be very happy about it. It's always great to see people happy about their job! Then, tonight, my brother and I were starving and weren't sure what time Blue Dogs closed, so we stopped in to ask. The door was unlocked, but when we asked what time they closed, the employees answer was "10 minutes ago, but that doesn't matter, we can help you out with whatever you want. If you want to eat inside the restaurant, I can keep it open until you're done!" We opted to take it to go, but it was fantastic that he offered. As we were waiting for our food to be cooked, we overheard the other employee talking to more customers on the phone and he also told them that even though they were closed, they could work something out. It's excellent that these workers go out of their way for a satisfied customer. (:

Got tired at eating at the casinos, so I gave this place a try. Can't go wrong with BBQ Chicken and Walk the Dog mmmmm. Very impressed with their taste -- the zest in healthy doses.

Chicken pesto pizza was great - happened in on a random Mon and was told toppings were 1/2 off, price drops from $22 to $12 - ok by me; though I don't rec the chicken tenders, wings might be ok - good SPICY Buffalo sauce

This place is great good pizzas and really friendly staff. I came here on my birthday and my husband had them write happy birthday in pepperoni; they even brought it out with a candle.

We went to this place after finding out that there was a long line for base camp pizza. This place was good for family with kids. The waitress will come to place order, deliver the pizza/drinks. The pizza was good but the amount seems little. We had 2 adults, 2 boys (14/9) and we ordered 1 large pizza and 12 chicken wings. After that, Dad and boys were still not full. The crust of the pizza was very thin. Normally 4 of us can't finish a large pizza at other pizza places. Also my little son felt upset in his stomach after eating there but the rest of us were fine. So not sure it's due to the food or not.

The pizza was great, the service was awful. It was so bad we were about to dine and ditch, since server never came around until we got up three times to get her. The staff yelling from the back of the kitchen about how dirty the kitchen was really inviting too.

Pizza is pretty good - worth a try which is what i can say about most. We have been to the countries no. 1 and #2 place, so no 5 star for me, but if in Tahoe you must give it a try to compare. --RibChamp

On Tahoe weekends, I look forward to Blue Dog almost as much as snowboarding. Their pizza hits the spot when you are tired, cold, injured, drunk, in a hot tub, driving back from Tahoe, broke, too lazy to go out or any combination of the above. Service can be slow so always better to call ahead.

Went to this place based on yelp's reviews. My husband ordered the calzone and I had the french bread pizza. The meals did not disappoint! Yummy!! When we come to South Tahoe, we will make sure to visit Blue Dog. And, the service was great. Very friendly and attentive. Place was very clean and well maintained - which is always a plus. Easy - 5 stars!!

Great pizza but has to wait longer than other place. Maybe it was really packed when I visited them at peak dinner hour. Reasonably priced with average service.

So after ice skating at Heavenly Village, My husband and I decided to stop in. So it was December and I was already freezing from ice skating. I was excited to go in to warm myself up, but that didn't happen. The whole entire time I was in there I was freezing! So that made it uncomfortable for me to eat. Anyway, we ordered their supreme pizza & buffalo wings. Their food is delicious! I loved everything! I'll definitely eat here again whenever I'm in town.

THIS is 5-star pizza??? No way. Neither the crust nor the toppings were anything to rave about. My husband and son are pizza lovers and connoisseurs and neither were impressed. I ordered a salad. It was okay--like the stuff you get out of a bag at the grocery store but not as fresh. Service was not bad. On the whole, a very anti-climactic experience. Usually, these little non-chain pizza places take pizza seriously. I would say this place is just a notch above Little Caesars. Next time, we're going to Pizza Hut. I'm guessing this place relies on tourist traffic because people who live here would not be regulars.

Contrary to other reviewer's experiences, I thought that the service here was fine. The guy who served our table was extremely friendly and great with kids. He gave our table just the amount of attention it deserved... The food here is pretty damned good, and the prices are quite fair. The wings and pizzas went over very well, and I can definitely see myself returning here when I am in town... The place can get busy on weekends, so keep that in mind. You can see the Labor Day fireworks from in front of the restaurant, which is awesome as well...

We frequent this location, sometimes even twice in one day, when we are in the area. We love the pizza and the service is usually ok. Our last visit however, makes me question whether or not I will return. We placed an order online because it was more convenient for us. The only option online is for take out, so even though we wanted to dine in, we picked that option. We have done this before and it has never been a problem. We simply tell them when we get there that we want to dine in. They are normally fine with it. Upon arriving to the restaurant, we sat down and waited about 10 mins for a server to come to the table. The restaurant was practically empty and they had several staff members, but we weren't really in a hurry so we didn't say anything about the wait. We told the girl who came over that we ordered online but we would like to eat in the restaurant and she said it wouldn't be a problem. While she was getting our drinks, a pregnant girl called out my name at the register for us to pick up our pizza, it was all boxed up and ready to go. We told her we had already talked to someone about dining in and she made a face at us like we were being a nuisance. She then comes over with our pizza on a tray and very rudely informed us that for orders in the future, we should call and tell them we want to dine in because she just had to "throw out a box" (sorry but that's part of doing business). She also told us that if the restaurant had been busy she would've had to tell us to leave because online orders are not meant to be eaten in the restaurant. She then mentioned again how it was not ok that we made her throw the box away. We woul'dve been fine with her leaving everything in the box and bringing it to the table, but apparently she would rather have a confrontation about it. The pregnant girl then walked over to another server, she was short with short brown hair, and they were talking to each other and looking directly at us. We could actually hear them talking too, about how she already told us about "wasting a box" and not being able to dine in with online orders. This was beyond rude and uncalled for. I dont know if this is normal policy to treat paying customers this rudely or if she was just hormonal from being pregnant, but we will not be returning to this location ever again. If its such a big deal, make "dine in" an option online. But to treat customers like this is just bad business.

This is really excellent pizza. A thin-ish but somewhat chewy crust. Good mix of ingredients on their gourmet mixes. Use the coupons ordering online for discounts, free breadsticks, etc.

Not sure what to think. We came in last winter when it was snowing and the wind was howling. We walked in and it was packed but so toasty warm. We found a table and 6 of us enjoyed some great pizza. We started with Buffalo Chip appetizer which was great. This time we came in and it was so hot it felt like we were literally in an oven. We got the Buffalo Chip appetizer which was good again. The pizza bread with pepperoni was not very good - the sauce just lacked. I also got the Greek salad which was great.

I am upset with Blue Dog's delivery service. I don't know what kind of service Blue Dog has when you eat in, and I really hope that my disappointment is due to a poorly trained phone operator but I have not received our order for 1.5 hours. This should never happen and I will not spend my money here again.

Dined here this timne around & the same great atmosphere & evertything. We shared the lake of the dog pizza with chicken, bacon, spinach, artichokes, & alfredo sauce. Everything was so fresh & tender; the crust thin like I remember it. The service is friendly & I had an additional slice of pepperoni which was every bit as good with a perfect cheese, zesty marinara sauce, & pepperoni rasio. I loved the rock & role they had playing.

Base Camp pizza had a 1.5hr wait... So we opted for Blue Dog pizza... This establishment is disorganized, their pizza is mediocre at best. Kids running around yelling... I won't be back and unless you are bringing kids, and like Chucky Cheese style/quality pizza, I wouldn't recommend this place.

BlueDog Pizza at state line Lake Tahoe have excellent pizza selections with plenty of space to sit and enjoy some time with family. While they get your pizza enjoy sometime looking up the hill the gondola ride in heavenly village Or enjoy good selection of beer. A complete place to satisfy your hunger. Manish

If you've ever had good pizza, you'd know this place is a joke. The pizza is okay. There's nothing special about any of it. There's no cool, weird pizzas to try. The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because of the free cinnastix. The pizza is way overpriced for how generic it is.

Definitely a Yelp let down. We picked this place for delivering a pizza to watch a football game, based on reviews. Pizza was cold, and the toppings were sparse. Crust was doughy, not crisp. There has to be better pizza in SLT?

My boyfriend and I would stop in several times during each of our weekend trips. (We discovered this place a few years back) Unfortunately, the service has gone downhill. I had a bad experience a few months back but figured it was just because the employee was having a bad day. Recently, I brought my family in to try this place. I raved about how awesome it was but once again I was disappointed by the service. The girl was so rude that we debated about whether or not to stay. I would recommend this place if customer service doesn't matter to you. I have nothing but good things to say about the food. It's so good! My favorite is the French bread pizza.

Ordered a pizza on New Year's eve before going out, and got it in about half an hour. Pizza tasted average, ate many better, but you don't complain when you get it delivered to your door for free. Anyway, after hour and a half my Hell of a night started, I was throwing up whole night... I got an awful food poisoning, and just woke up after 1 of the worst nights IN MY LIFE!!!!! (Just for the record I ate approximately 6 hours before this pizza and it was home cooked meal with fresh groceries, and it was all fine, so it's not questionable if it was anything else.) Thanks for poisoning me and ruining my New Years eve!

I sadly ordered a pizza from here for my family of 8. They took my money, led me to believe that my order was on its way, and after a two hour wait they told me that, "they don't order to stateline". Well thank you!

The staff here are amazing very friendly and willing to offer suggestions. There customer service is beyond any pizza place I've ever been to. They are the best in South Lake in my book I will frequent here when ever in the area. And the food was beyond amazing from the hot wings to the walk the dog pizza there in house sauce on the table was great and our server made this experience even better. I believe his name is Andy he makes you feel like a regular and very welcomed and that is rare to find these days

Blue Dog Pizza has great pizza in a clean friendly atmosphere right across from Heavenly. Parking is usually a breeze here during the day. They have many daily specials which are always great. The pizza here is very very tasty. My favorite that I tried was the Hair of the Dog pizza. It was loaded with sausage, pepperoni, bacon, jalapeno, garlic, cheese, sauce, and green chili sauce. This is down right so satisfying. The pizza at Blue Dog always hits the spot!

Good place for families or singles. It's a bit busy around 6 pm, so service can be spotty. $5 beers. Pizza is tasty, definitely not thin crust though. Greek pizza with feta cheese is a good choice.

Fabbbbbbbbbbbaaaaaaaaaallllllllloooooooouuuuuuuuus! Just arrived from a long trip and not in the mood to dine out. High ratings and delivery were my factors to order pizza. Had Pesto Chicken. Soooooooooo good! Hmmm. Yummy! Ceasar Salad was good too!

  • Erika G.

It was open. We were 5 min away. It did the job. If our favorite place delivered we wouldn't even go here. Pizza was eh, I've had better. Thin, flat, old looking not cheesy. But their cheesy bread was YUMMIRIFFIC! I could probably eat the whole order by myself. Staff was totally cool and super friendly.

  • Ann N.

The pizza was actually really good, the service was terrible. Our server did not seem to care that we were there. He forgot a salad, didn't bring enough plates, never brought us silverware after we asked. There were about 3 other tables in the whole place, so it wasn't that they were busy. We had to get his attention any time we wanted anything. He then asked if we wanted a box, we said yes, then he disappeared for about 20 minutes. We had to hunt him down to get the box and our bill. It was very annoying. The food was good, but I would never go back. Maybe carry out would be a good idea...

We all know that no matter what kind of health nut you are, no one can resist good old-fashioned greasy American comfort foods after a long day of hitting the slopes. These meals may come in various shapes and sizes...from pizza..to burgers & fries..to nachos..to fried chicken..to BBQ...the common denominator is essentially unadulterated grease. Somehow time in the snow makes saturated fats extra yummy on the tastebuds. With that in mind, one place that perfectly hits the spot after a long day of bombin' down mountains is Blue Dog Pizza just adjacent to Heavenly Village in South Lake Tahoe. When we went, the place was crowded but we got seated quickly and our waiter was super attentive. Within 20 minutes or so, we were all gulpin' down their healthy selection of brewskis and wolfin' down some tasty pizza (highly recommend the "Roma" & "Hair of the Dog" combos)! Blue Dog is officially on my post-boarding junkfood junkie list.

  • Feli M.

We dined in after an hour of playing in the snow, so we were starving. The Waitress was very nice! It was our first time and she was very patient with us not sure what we wanted on our wings. She ended up being nice enough to bring out two dipping sauces, we tried their regular buffalo style and spicy BBQ. It was delish! The chicken was also awesome! A good amount of meet and cooked perfectly. We ended up going with a large pizza half pepperoni and half blue Hawaiian. The pizza was awesome! It was all a little pricey, we ended up paying $47 for the large pizza, 8 Wings, one corona, a childs soda and an adult soda, but it was worth it for that one night and I will definitely go back when we are out there again. The actual restaurant was clean and taken care of, and they had an arcade in there. All in all I would suggest a visit if you are around the area.

  • Sam H.

The problem with place is the HORRIBLE service. It's slow and incredibly inattentive. The good part is the pizza is actually very good. The crust is thin and crispy. The flavor is very good. If you are looking for a grilled chicken on top of your salad, you won't get it here. It's baked chicken tenders that they probably bought from Raley's next door. I would order take out unless you want to sit there and wait forever to get your pie. Also, if you like headbanging music, then you will like the background music. Pizza is a four star, service is a one star.

Ate here on 3 occasions during our most recent trip to Tahoe. Great proximity to the Marriott and the pizza was really solid. Very quiet inside, as there wasn't much business, but it was the weekend after Labor Day. Convenience and food quality were exceptional. I'll eat there again!

Absolute best pizza! Their gluten free pizza tastes just like regular pizza. I will always come back every time I visit South Lake Tahoe. If you want great pizza go here you wont be disappointed and the price point is perfect.

We came in on a Saturday night an hour before close with 8 guys. Half the place was shut down. We spent $160 on pizza and beer while the wana be snow border staff gave us dirty looks for showing up. We were not drunk or rude and were made to feel unwelcome. We were out 5 minutes by for close and won't be back. Please yelpers choose another pizza place. Lake Tahoe Pizza Company has 142 better reviews and a salad bar. Thanks

Still just as good! This time, 6 of us ordered 3 pizzas and it was just right. Wished they had a bit more variety in beer, but beer, pizza, and great company... what more can you ask for!

The pizza lover in me just gets it :) After a good day of snowboarding, our group came here. Some friends visited this place for its 4 star ratings, liked it and they took us here. Yelp did it again for us. I must say, we can trust Yelp reviews! We started off with the cheesy bread and what a teaser. It was so good it made us even hungrier. We ordered large of everything - chicken pesto, roma tomatoes, meat lover and hair of the dog. Everything on our table looked great. And I was the first one to dig in. My personal favorite was hair of the dog. Very good combo of the bacon and the jalapenos. I'm not a tomatoe person so I can't say much about that, altho I won't say it was not good. A new thing i discovered with pizza eating is the ranch. Omg! It made every slice taste better. We took a few slices home and their pizza's good even after a minute in the microvawe. Good vibe. Big place - maybe the reason for a little wait? But nonetheless, I will eat pizza here again next time I'm in Tahoe.

I ate here with my son and sister-in-law this past weekend. The server was pleasant and gave my son a coloring page and crayons as soon as we got there(Most pizza places don't offer these if they don't have a children's menu) . We started with a salad and our server was nice enough to offer a cup of croutons for my 2 and half year old. I tend to be a ranch snob(I HATE the bottled stuff) and was very excited when the menu said they had homemade ranch dressing. It was sooooo gooooood!!!!!!!!!We had the Greek Pizza and The BBQ chicken Pizza they were amazing, I love Greek salad and to think yo put it all on a pizza YUM!!! After we finished eating I asked the server if her had any idea of things to do for kids in the area, he recommended a few things and even let me know how to catch the free bus that went around the area. Great Food and Service!!!! Will most definitely be visiting again!!!!!!!!!

I came here w/ my family for a late lunch on a recent trip to Tahoe. Pizza was the only thing everyone could agree upon (there were 8 of us), so this place worked out nicely. We ordered 1 Hair of the Dog and 1 Pesto Chicken pizza to share, plus wings and buffalo chips. Everything was delicious! The gourmet pizzas were unique, cooked to perfection, and just the right thickness for my liking. I also really liked the buffalo chips. Service was really friendly and accommodating to our large group. The pizzas are a bit pricey, but if you have a larger group and you're sharing, it's worth it. -L.

I gotta say that this place has the hands down best pizza in all of tahoe - and its a must eat on every trip up to south lake tahoe. Maybe its the pizza along with the altitude but i always finish the meal satisfied. We happened to try the other highly rated - lake tahoe pizza company but this place made me get a second order of pizza on our trip here. The blue Hawaiian has an amazing spicy bbq sauce along with bacon, canadian bacon and pineapple - I just can't eat enough of this one. The hair of the dog is a great choice when you are craving a meaty and spicy pizza alternative. The pizza toppings make the pizzas here - I don't feel skimped here. Did I mention the beer on tap??? Try it the next time you are up here!!!

This has become our first stop for lunch after the drive to Lake Tahoe. Their pizza is delicious...I suggest a pepperoni, roasted garlic, and pineapple pizza YUM! OMG I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT HERE!!!!!!!!! I recommend getting cheese pizza (I know cheese sounds childish but trust me) it's the best pizza there. Also, get the buffalo wing and cinnamon sticks. Delicious. It's great in there the waiters are all so cool laid back and super friendly!!! Totally go here!!!

I am a pizza connoisseur. so whenever i travel, i have to try the local joints. this place was a nice surprise! everything was fresh, the staff attentive, and the pizza sauce was the best part. highly recommended if you're in the area visiting and looking for a non-chain alternative. not to mention they had fat tire on draft! it paired great with my supreme pie. I'm not saying this to sound like a fat slob, but i came a slice short of finishing the entire pizza. pretty darn good pizza

So here I was. Enjoying a night at Tahoe...."Because I can". Didn't feel like a casino night. Just wanted some pizza, beer, and good company. Turned to Yelp for answers on the pizza. Blue Dog answered the call. err....internet order. ;) Ordered the Meat Lover's and a couple soda drinks. The pizza was smoking hot when it arrived, as were the breadsticks. Drinks were ice cold. All was heading towards a 5 star review.... When The driver was handed $30 for a $26 tab, and had the "nerve" to say "are we good"? NO, we aren't good. That's not how you ask for a tip. So I took back $1 on principal. Sure, I could afford to give him the $4 tip...but don't "expect" it....and it wasn't like he delivered it to a "ritzy place"....oh no. Budget Inn isn't the Marriott Timber Lodge! Anyways, watch for the delivery driver trying to make a couple bucks they didn't earn. Great pizza!

A cheap dining option in the center of things in South Lake Tahoe. Rowdy atmosphere, a few beers on tap, pizzas, salads, apps. We ordered: * Hair of the Dog: Jalapenos, pepperoni, sausage, Canadian bacon, green chili, mozzarella and garlic * Walk the Dog: Creamy white sauce, chicken, fresh spinach, crispy bacon, garlic and mozzarella *Spinach Salad The Walk the Dog wasn't my favorite, but that might have been because I prefer tomato sauce to white sauce. The Hair of the Dog was a big hit with our table, as was the spinach salad. While the pizza here is not the best you'll ever have, it's still pretty tasty. A good option if you're with a group and not really up feeling like hotel buffet or a fancy meal.

The Good - fast and friendly delivery, the cheese bread was seriously delicious in that thank-god-i-burned-5000-calories-today kind of way, and the toppings were passable. The Bad - well, the crust. Man o' man...it was seriously lackluster. Like really in my lower echelon of pizza crusts ever eaten. Did the crust ruin it? No. Will I order again? Actually, maybe. The Goods mentioned above do almost level the field for three stars and they deliver. I'm usually too pooped to leave my room after a full day out and a full apres ski time. Soooo, yeah, give it a shot, but well...meh.

Ordered a greek salad and a bacon pizza from this place for delivery. There was speedy delivery and the food was decent, nothing superb. The pizza is a thicker crust pizza with almost a Pizza Hut style/taste/texture to it. Not my favorite but pizza is pizza. Recommend if you need a quick bite to eat.

We're So.Cal visitors and we were in this shopping center and we decided to come here randomly. Our expectation was more than met. Decent price vs Portion Quality ingredients Very clean Polite Professional We ordered hair of the dog and greek pizza and for us olives are a NO!!! so they substituted ingredients with no hassel. Our pizza came out hot and fresh; Im talking cheese still melted and steaming hot FRESHNESS! Even the parmesan cheese and crushed pepper on the tables were fresh and full. They have a decent selection of beer on Tap. I recommended: ICKY IPA Acknowledgement and Props to Aaron J. for providing us with a great experience. He was very helpful and polite and he recommended the Icky IPA! He's given Lake Tahoe and BLUE DOG PIZZA a GREAT IMPRESSION. Overall satisfaction 6 STARS!!! because of quality of service.

3.5 The calzones and French bread pizzas we ordered were actually spot on and really good. What sucked is the service at first. We sat and sat and sat and watched four employees clustered at the counter all staring at their iPhones and having a grand old time on social media while we waited for anyone, someone, to come take at least our drink order. I felt like Shirley MacLaine in Terms of Endearments but instead of storming the nurse's desk and screaming, "My daughter is in pain, GIVE HER SOME DRUGS!", I had to go up and ask one of the four social media magnate wannabes to please take our order if they had a moment. I guess that snapped them awake finally, and our waitress then was much better.

It was ok... We went as a plan B since the wait at Base Camp was so long. The crust was a little sweet... Maybe they didn't wash well after they made a dessert one...I don't know... Anyways everyone was super nice and if I was super hungry and basecamp was crazy again. I would go back.

Sometimes you are out of town, it's late, and you have a starving teenage boy. What to do? Order a pizza of course! We were in South Tahoe for a basketball tourney when the hunger pangs hit so we turned to Yelp to find somewhere that was still open and found Blue Dog. If you order on-line or on your app you get free bread-sticks. However the app wasn't working but they did give us the deal when we called in! The shop is located close to the cinema and Raley's so it was very easy to find. The customer service on the phone was excellent and very quick. We ordered and the pizza was ready in 15 minutes. We ordered a pepperoni and cheese pizza because the teen does not like anything green or fancy on his pie...but their gourmet pizzas looked so good! Pizza was very good, maybe a tad overdone but still hit the spot! The crust was a little burned (but still tasty). We will definitely order from them again when we are back in town. The 3 star instead of a 4 or 5 was because the pizza was over-done (it was good so I can only imagine what it tastes like cooked correctly) and they did not put in plates or napkins knowing we were staying in a hotel so it was kind of a messy deal. Still I love non-chain pizza joints so definitely going to visit again.

Pretty good pizza here. A little saltier then I was expecting. The place was packed, so that was my sign that the good must be decent. It was actually really busy and we did have to wait a while (30mins) for our take out pizza, but the beer we had while waiting made the time go faster. Loved that they have outdoor seating. I will come back if I we want another pizza after a long Lake Tahoe day. Fun place and seemed pretty kid friendly.

Came here after the long ride to Tahoe, and the warm and welcoming interior was amazing after the 7 hour ride. We ordered two large gourmet pizzas at $22 each for six people which was definitely not enough. Walk the Dog, white sauce, chicken, spinach, crispy bacon, garlic, mozzerella cheese- this was my favorite. The combination was on point; a slight hint of garlic, crispy crumbles of bacon, white sauce, chicken.. mmm... The pizza was baked perfectly- the bottom wasn't soggy and the crust was crispy and not too bready. Blue Hawaiian, spicy bbq blend, canadian bacon topped with pineapples, onions, and mozzarella cheese- very different from the Walk the Dog with the bbq sauce and somewhat hawaiian feel. The combination was surprisingly yummy, and the pizza was again, of the same consistency. This pizza parlor was a lifesavor for the six of us. The pizzas were made very well and the execution of the combinations/ toppings were excellent. Will definitely remember this place for next time!

They had Gluten Free Pizza. The waitress checked and the cooks made me gluten free wings too. I would recommend the wings over the pizza. Nice place, good staff. Pricey but you are in Tahoe!

I love this place. Every time we visit Tahoe, for the past three years, we come here. The gluten free pizza has one if the best gf pizza crusts I've ever had. And the workers are friendly and the bathroom is clean.

Decent pizza place. Good Service. I ordered the Walk the Dog and it was very flavorful. It had Chicken, Bacon, Spinach all on white sauce. It was recommended by the Waitress. If you are looking for lower priced pizzas this is your place!

Fast service, excellent pizzas! I had a half chicken pesto and half "walk the dog" and can't tell which one was better! Recommend!

Perfect dinner before a night out. Server checked to see if any of the cheese was not cows milk without showing annoyance. Gluten free crust was yum. Husband had normal pizza and enjoyed. It was busy but service was fine. We will be back.

The good: Calzone was very delicious. Beer was very cold. Wings were very good. The bad: Service was slow. Wings came with sauce on the side, had to prep our own wings. Stopped in late night, passing numerous other venues as this was the only place that offered calzones on the menu. Ambiance is not great being that it's behind a grocery store.

While spending time at Lake Tahoe we needed something to eat for lunch so we decided to order Blue Dog to our hotel room. We ended up ordering a pizza as well as an order of their bread sticks since they were free. The ordering process online was fairly easy and it was nice to take our time figuring out what we wanted as we ordered. One thing that we found to be interesting since we are not from the area is that they also deliver alcohol. When the pizza and bread sticks arrived the driver was polite and timely. The food was hot and well made which was good. The one thing that was a bit agitating was that for the quantity of food you got, the price was fairly high. Beyond that, over we enjoyed our meal and loved that we did it in the comfort of our hotel room.

Some of the best wings I've had anywhere! We regretted not ordering the largest size Pizza was great & loved the herb crust! Place was packed on a busy summer night but our server was awesome, drinks were always refilled and very friendly.

I am not someone to make a review. I am not a picky person even when it comes to eating out. However, I do expect at least DECENT service when I go out. More so.. effort. We sat there 15 minutes without anyone coming to the table. When I went up and asked for a server the response was "We'll be over soon man, we've been super busy". Me and my date waited 5 more minutes and was greeted "what do you want for drinks". We nearly got up and left. Food took a very long time (and I worked at a pizza restaurant and in my unbiased opinion did not think they were that busy). Food was great and drinks once we finally got them. They forgot our waters and ranch and we had to go up and ask twice for them. Then the reason I am writing this review and the reason we walked out.. there are 4 guys screaming watching sports (I get it, us men like our sports). Finally one yells "F***!" And I politely ask him to watch his mouth because I am with a lady and there are kids around. Long story short he tells me to "shut the f*** up and turn around" and nothing was done. Nothing. This was tolerated and I am absolutely appalled and can say this was the worst experience ever. The workers aplogized, didn't kick them out, and gave me about 25% off our meal and drinks we didn't get to finish. Was this an usual occurence? Probably not. Is the pizza good? Yes. But this was absolutely unacceptable and they will not be receiving my business for years to come (and I love pizza!). Very disappointed.

After a good day of hiking above Lake Tahoe, I was in the mood for some pizza. I initially tried Base Camp, but the line was ridiculous, so Blue Dog was my next choice. It was busy, but I was able to be seated right away. I ordered the Greek salad with no onions, but unfortunately, when the salad arrived, I had to pick of the onions. Overall, the salad was ok. The BBQ chicken pizza arrived next. It had 8 slices and was pretty tasty. Their wasn't a lot of chicken however. The crust was light and the gouda cheese went well. Even though it was on the pricey side, that's somewhat expected for a tourist mecca like SLT.

My favorite Tahoe meal was at this pizza joint. Which makes complete sense because the rest of the world that was at Tahoe last weekend was there too. Luckily, we got seated within 5 minutes and although quoted with a 45 min wait for food after order has been placed, our pizza came out in 20 mins. It was my lucky day. WALK THE DOG. The creamy white sauce, crispy bacon with fresh spinach and chicken oozing with garlic and mozzarella cheese. I was in heaven. Add that with the draft pitcher of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and let's just say I forgot how sore/tired I was from boarding the whole day. Two large pies was enough for 4 adults, with leftovers too. They actually have another location down the same street and when I passed by it the following night, there was no wait...will probably go to that location in the future to avoid the large groups of people in a almost non-existent waiting area. The hostess and server were both nice and attentive despite the large crowds. I would definitely come back here next time I'm in town!

How do you spell delicious? Blue Dog Pizza. We prefer "real" Italian pizza, with a thin crust that folds (vs. California's bread dough with pizza sauce on it), and BDP has the best we've found. Each time we visit Tahoe, we make it a point to have lunch or dinner there. Just a minute's walk from the Heavenly Gondola (in the Raley's Shopping Center), it's a great place to kick back, have a beer, and enjoy a nice menu selection in addition to pizza. Perfect for family, couples and friends, with consistently great customer service, I would give this BDP three thumbs up!

Totally disgusted by the service , the guys were completely rude and forgot to put our drinks on the bill and before we could pay realized THEIR mistake, and with a fowl attitude insisted that we graciously tip our server due to the error. And to add to that as we are leaving out of the door he sarcastically said "thanks for the generous tip" RUDE RUDE RUDE!!!! How could you even bring yourself to treat a customer like that? How ever much it may make you upset, you chose a job where if the customer does not feel satisfied you don't get a tip because you did not earn it, learn some customer service skills if you expect anything at all.

Glad to have walked in to the place on accident. My son and I were originally going to Base Camp Pizza Co. because we saw the sign pizza by the main road. We kept walking straight instead of turning left and saw Blue dog pizza. At first I was skeptical about place because it only had 2 people eating. I ordered the walk the dog pizza which had spinach, chicken ,garlic and heavenly bacon bits. Although I have never eaten room temperature / cold pizza before, I still enjoyed my slice. I think they probably forgot to warm it up or just dont really do it. I love their Walk the dog pizza and my son loved his pepperoni , and when I say loved I mean he finished a slice bigger than his head . Paid $8 for 2 big slices of pizza and 1 apple juice. The staff was friendly and even offered to open the door when I was walking out (which you hardly encounter nowadays). The only thing is that this place is kind of hidden so if youre coming from the right side of Raleys, you wouldnt even realize that theres a pizza place on the left. I will definitely return when we visit Tahoe again.

Great customer service. Accommodated our party of 18 by placing tables together and splitting our checks. Everyone seemed to enjoy their pizzas. I ordered a pepperoni and gorgonzola french bread pizza and a greek salad- both very tasty :)

I like Blue Dog, we have ordered delivery twice. I just can't get over spending $72 on 3 pizzas. The pesto pizza is yummy. The hawaiian was just fine. BBQ chicken is good. The crust is good. Both times it arrived a little soggy, but that happens with delivery. I am on the fence with Blue Dog Stateline Delivery, it is good, but not $24 a pizza good.

Last night our original plan was to go to base camp pizza only to realize they had a hour+ wait so we figured we would try something new and found ourselves at Blue Dog pizza. They were busy but we were seated quickly only to be served by our waiter who took our drink order and ended up spilling it twice across the table. Our server seemed upset when we tried to order cider beer, which they do not have. He appeared to roll his eyes and we could tell immediately he seemed to be having a "bad day". At one point we asked for another straw for our child, when he brought it to us we thanked him and he actually said "it's not like I have any other tables to wait on". Because the restaurant was busy our pizza took a long time to come out, our server came with a salad and told our table of 10 to "enjoy". We thought the salad was complementary, but when the server tried to serve us two more salads we stopped him and told him we did not order these salads. The server came back to our table and seemed upset that we accepted the first salad but were "honest" about the two second salads. Apparently, the salads belonged to another table next to us. Then our server came a second time to our table and said "well you should have said something about the salad" my father apologized only to have our sever shrug his shoulders seemingly annoyed. I spoke up and said we thought the original salad given to our table was complementary because the pizza was taking so long. The server then said he didn't appreciate me yelling at him. Honestly, this entire experience was extremely upsetting. We had to ask for everything, we were never offered water, we had to ask for forks and knives and dealing with the server was more than frustrating. The bill came and we paid. But I wanted to make sure the manager knew the server gave us a bad experience. I asked for the manager and to my shock our "server" was the manager. How could a business put this man in charge? I told him his service was sub par and he actually said "I already told you I'm sorry", but he never apologized to us. I asked his name, he refused, and proceeded to tell me that nobody in the building would tell me his name. This guy even had the audacity to tell us he didn't care if I wrote a poor review on Yelp, he said it doesn't effect his business at all. I turned to my sister and asked for a phone to take a picture of him and he threatened to call the police on me. I have never been so upset over a dinner than I was last night. I have later found out the server "manager" was Josh. Well "Josh" here is the review you don't care about: Blue Dog pizza has good food, but they need to fire their manager if they wish to keep return clientele.

I prefer Tahoe pizza company but blue dog pizza is pretty good too. It tastes more like pizza factory compared to the pizza company but the crust is nice and crispy. The walk the dog pizza is way too garlicy and tasteless but the rest of my family liked it. The salads are pretty good too. They are really big. I liked the house salad with chicken and ranch.

The best place for a decent late evening meal. They aren't open 24/7 but they're open later than most eateries in South Lake Tahoe. Plenty of free parking. Easy to find (use the free Yelp app for step by step directions). Gracious and kind service. Roxy, their manager, took care of us when we came by late one weeknight evening. We came by just a few minutes before closing yet she was so very gracious and kind. Good beer selection. Good salad dressings. The only thing I'd like to see added to their menu is a whole wheat alternative to their regular white flour pizza crusts.

Won a free pizza from here so we got our pizza and I have to say that it's worth going to. The pizza was great. Had a bit of a problem when trying to order on-line to take advantage of the special when trying trying to buy one and redeem our voucher. They were able to take care of us over the phone. The family loved the pizza.

This was my first pizza experience in since summer 2014. We picked it on a whim and one recommendation from my boss, a local of Tahoe. First off liked the ambiance. Very chill and laid back. We were there at a not very crowded time. We had the Greek pizza and a garden salad. Pizza was good. Nothing extraordinary. Fabulous crust, well proportioned toppings and not overly greasy. The salad was bleak though and not worth the money. Staff was friendly and prompt. Good experience overall.

The food is still excellent, but the service has gone completely downhill. We came twice during this Tahoe trip and couldn't believe how poor the service has become. My only conclusion is that they're operationally defunct or they've changed leadership and are still trying to figure out how to run the place. What a sad state of affairs. We loved you, Blue Dog. Please get your act together or Base Camp Pizza will become our new place. I had to talk my husband into coming back the second time during this trip and, although the food was good, we had to wait over an hour to get our food and had to go up to counter several times to get our own refills and silverware. No Bueno! Not giving up on you quite yet. Hubby talked to the manager and apparently there are a lot of new employees. Train 'em up!

    (2)
  • Dan B.

Really good pizza, but when you have to wait over an hour for it while sitting there watching the employees talking to their friends, it doesn't taste nearly as good. Very apathetic feel from everyone who works there. But seriously, the pizza was good stuff

Talk about a let down. Would have been better off getting a pizza from Safeway and cooking it ourselves. Yelp reviews duped me into thinking this was a great local pizza joint. Con: supreme pizza was cold, toppings were at a bare minimum. We're takin' Pizza Hut is more generous with their portion servings than Blue Dog. Doughy crust. Average flavor pizza, nothing über special. Caesar salad was fine, but only one dressing for a 2+serving salad. Cinna stix that were a free add on were far from fresh. Hardened bread sticks with a tiny bit of frosting that was stuck to the bottom of the box...made several hours earlier. Such a bummer. Pro: they delivered in 35 minutes within their 45 minute delivery window. You let me down Blue Dog, you let me down.

Went for a late night dinner and was bummed to find out that most dining places closed at 10 on a Saturday night. We found Blue Dog Pizza open. We came in at around 1030pm. They were able to accommodate us. We sat down and our hostess named Sue came to get us our drinks. We ordered a 14" pizza. We also couldn't decide on just one flavor so we ordered half and half. We ordered pesto chicken and vegetarian pizza. The pizza came so fast. We were happy about that because again we were starving. Sue was very attentive.. She was also able to get us some cinnastix even though it was already close to closing. The two types of pizza were both great.. My favorite is the pesto chicken though. It has pesto, chicken of course, and artichoke. Cinnastix was good too. Not overly sweet.. Really yummy. My friend and I were both really satisfied and happy with the service and food. I highly recommend it.

After dealing with some very incompetent hosts at Base Camp Pizza across the street, my group of 23 went to Blue Dog. We were seated in about fifteen minutes near the back of the restaurant and we ordered by table. My table went with the Cheesy French bread, BBQ Chicken pizza, and the Pesto Chicken pizza. The Cheesy bread was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Cheesy and warm, which is about all you can ask for with these. Both pizzas had a nice crust, but the Pesto Chicken pizza was a bit bland. Sprinkling some of the pepper flakes on it helped. The best pizza was the BBQ Chicken. It was much more flavorful than the Pesto Chicken. Prices were a bit high for the food, but we were hungry and didn't want to look around for another place to eat. Besides, the overall service was great from beginning to end (I believe Laura was our server). One other complaint though was that there no AC in the restaurant. It made for a slightly uncomfortable dining experience on a warm, humid day. 3 stars for the food, but I'm going to give an extra star because of their customer service.

    (4)
  • Marlon R.

Pizza is great. Why not more stars? Service really sucked. One of the girls seems like she was on drugs because she started to help other people in their crazy line. When I told her I was next she shrugged and said oh well..after that her attitude worsened. When I got the pizzas, I asked for peppers and she said ok...and left. I waited for a while and another person (looked like the manager) asked if she could help me. I said I asked the other girl for pepper packets and then she stated that they always put them inside. So...want great pizza...go there. Care about service? Don't go there.

  • Stacy G.

Pros: Near to Heavenly Village, way shorter wait than at Base Camp Pizza, and much more family friendly. Service was good. Video games to entertain the kids. Cons: It took a long time to get anyone's attention to be seated, and probably over an hour to get our pizza, although the salads came out quickly. The food was just ok. Pizzas were average and toppings on the supreme were a little skimpy.

What a joke! We decided to try this pizza place based on the great yelp reviews. Boy were we misled. I ordered a half combination pizza half mushroom and olives. The mushroom and olives side was okay. However, the combination side was skimpy. It barely had any pepperoni, the toppings were nonexistent. This pizza has great potential as it has a good dough/crust and red sauce but unfortunately they are more concerned with saving money thus cheating the customer of toppings. Never again!

We ordered our pizza online to be delivered to our room. It came in about 30 minutes. Everything we asked for. We got half bbq chicken, half pepperoni. They forgot the pepperoni, but the other half of the pizza made up for it. We also got the free breadsticks. Everything hit the spot.

Didn't feel like venturing out of the hotel room, but our bellies were in need of filling. Yelp pointed us in the direction of Blue Dog Pizza. We looked at the menu and saw many delightful items. We settled on a Veggie Roma Pizza, Chicken tenders, and the free bread sticks that were included with the online order (nice touch!). Placed the order right on the Yelp app. Very convenient. Only bad thing was that I specifically requested in the comments section that the store call me to confirm my order (I've had experiences in the past where other stores have said they never received my online order). Well, 10 minutes and no call. I called the number from the Yelp app, and I was connected to the store. The employee who answered stated I called the wrong store. No, I just had Yelp connect me to the number listed. Later I realized that delivery is only available at the midtown location, but the number on Yelp is for the Stateline store. How they expect tourists to know this is beyond me. Anyway, not a big deal and the order was confirmed. Later, it arrived within the quoted time. No plates, napkins, or parmesan cheese packets were included, though. The food tasted great. The pricing was pretty high but seemingly average for this town. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get some good pizza.

I thought the pizza was delicious! We had half Blue Hawaiian half Walk the Dog. Plus they have a few larger tables that could fit our party of 11 (hard to find these days). The server was cool and reliable. We are definitely going back. Pros: great pizza, you can half and half the specials, $4 add on 10" pizza that fed all four kids, clean, good service Cons: the specialty pizza was $22 I would give a five if the specialty pizzas were cheaper.

I will preface this review by saying it's possible that our waitress was high.. Came in here on NYE after being out on the slopes and freezing our butts off all day. First star because they have a 3-6pm happy hour that was taking place while we were there - $3 pints! However, they were out of three of the beers, so that's a negative star. Next, we (three of us) order. We all ordered salads, a pizza and cheesy bread to share. We also requested waters. We never received waters, and one of the salad orders was not placed, so we had to reorder it when the other two salads arrived. The missing salad was ordered without olives, but arrived with olives. The cheesy bread never arrived and I eventually cancelled it from the order. And to top it off, we all ordered pints, but she "upgraded" is to 20 oz beers... And charged us for it as well! That's the other two stars gone. One star for the food, cuz it was pretty good, and that's a total of two stars for this place. Maybe if we had a different waitress, things would have been better...

Good pizza. Horrible service. Made an order online and paid for it and had to deal with three rude servers to actually get it. The server told me I ordered the pizza at their other "restaurant" but he just couldn't find the ticket... It was sitting on the shelf the whole time... No one called it out, no apology no nothing. We won't be back, better luck trying base camp pizza.

The pizza here is good without a doubt, but the service can be somewhat subpar. Last visit here, we ordered to go and requested two large ranches for our pizza. We tipped him seven, and he mistakenly gave us small ranches. When we clarified that we had asked for large on the phone, he did not seem happy and gave us attitude about it. Honestly, be appreciative of those who do show gratitude by tipping when they don't have to.

We always eat here when in town, and the pizza is great. Their garlic chips and pesto chips are amazing. We also really like their spinach salad. Service is always courteous and prompt, never any complaints in the half dozen or so times I have been here. We will keep coming back.

Ordered 2 pizzas and cinnasticks online for pickup. Showed up25 minutes later to a line at the counter that wasn't being tended to. After about 15-20 minutes we were able to pay for our order but the cashier had disappeared before telling us how much longer it would be. Waited another 30minutes at the counter without any further service while others were able to walk up, order, and leave with their food. A total of an hour and 20minutes had gone by after our order had been placed before I was told they were cutting our pizzas. The only explanation we received was that "maybe the ticket was lost for a little while" Obviously never going back

My sister said it was reminiscent of chuck-e-cheeses. I said it was more like a buffalo's. Great waiter, attentive service, really fast food. The pizza came quickly with a thick later of cheese, but was pretty sad on the toppings. That being said, had the breadstix and the wings, the latter which was crispy and good. 52 for pizza, appetizers, and tip.

Just got in town from Sacramento and this little pizza place was right next to our lodge. What an awesome atmosphere! The people are very sweet and they greeted us right at the door. Awesome place for groups and kids. Pizza was delicious, however, they only have size 10" or 14" pizza. I suggest get a couple if there are four or more people in you're group =). All in all, awesome little place =)

Ehhhhhh. This is one example of a Yelp let-down. Or maybe South Lake Tahoe has a different idea of what pizza is. Despite strong reviews, I have to say that our delivery pizza was pretty disappointing. Nothing noteworthy about the sauce or crust on our veggie pizza. Plus, we got an order of cinnasticks for free... not really worth it. (They were tough and hard by the time we ate them.) Nothing wrong with delivery services.. but I don't think we'll be ordering it next time we are in town.

Ordered a custom pizza with 5 toppings (pepperoni, italian sausage, bacon, mushrooms, olives), pizza arrived with too much sauce, barely any mushrooms, little pepperoni, lots of olives, lots of tiny bacon pieces, and a good amount of italian sausage pieces. The crust was pretty thin, I expected a decent amount of crust. Also ordered a half-half BBQ chicken & Blue Hawaiian, seemed like BBQ sauce was used on the entire pizza instead of just the BBQ chicken side, BBQ sauce was sweet, OK pizza, but wouldn't order again. Their regular red sauce is spicy and sweet, not what you'd want on a regular pizza. Overall, WILL NEVER BUY FROM AGAIN, custom pizza had too little of their toppings ($2.5 per topping) which means they are ripping you off. They add so much sauce to the pizza, that you end up eating what feels like soup. They have high rise tables and stools, which SUCK because the stools don't have a back, and my back was hurting after sitting on those stools. Their regular tables aren't any better either because they have hard seat wood chairs. Their booths have hard wood benches. Anywhere you sit in their place, your butt will hurt and your back will be soar. During the winter, people go in and out, so sitting within 20 feet of the door will mean that you'll get blasted with cold air (not good for your back), which is often because they have a lot of traffic through the doors. Waitress was pretty dumb, serving drinks with ice when outside is 20*F, even though we told her NO ICE. WHO NEEDS ICE IF IT'S FREEZING OUTSIDE, STUPID! Pizza at the table got cold fast because people kept opening the doors. WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!

Amazing pizza and service that was over the top. Has been added to our best pizza in Tahoe list. Don't miss it. By the gondola in raleys shopping center. We had two dogs and were outside in the wind. The server was awesome and took time to play with the dogs and bring them water. How nice is that.

Went there with a group of friends. Called for a 14" veggie pizza with a side of cheesy bites. The food was great; pizza crust was thin and crispy. The place is small; you might have difficulty finding a table if you go on a busy day. All in all if your in lake Tahoe area and want to have some pizzas this is a must go place.

DO NOT BELIEVE ANY BAD REVIEWS ABOUT THIS PLACE!! The service was prompt and the young man was very helpful. The spinach salad was superb, and my husband enjoyed the house salad. We ordered 1/2 pesto chicken and 1/2 bbq chicken. The pesto was just right and the artichoke hearts was a perfect blend of flavor. The bbq sauce was just the right amount of tangy. I only wish I had a Blue Dog Pizza close to me.

After Snow boarding pizza, sign me up.. They deliver late and are quick too on saturday night, Ordered a large 1 topping pepperoni, cheese bread, and chicken tenders. They have a 20$ min which is good and bad. I didnt except to order so much. but the prices are soo good. Usually a large pie and a soda is close to 20$ in SF. I had tokeep adding stuff to get the minimum. The chicken tenders were hot and tasty, the cheese bread was crispy and soft on the inside. and the pizza was a little thicker than i prefer, i asked for thin crust. but overall the taste and toppings were great. good job guys

Blue Dog Pizza: My experience here was pretty awful, I mean the staff are laid back with unique names for their dishes but as a fan of pizza. The place is trying to be upscale, but it isnt. The price for just a medium is just ridiculous. I've gone here a few times with people, but if it was up to me I'd just go with a regular pizza chain. No uniqueness! Sorry

Went in last weekend and the Pizza was so delicious. I can't believe I found them off yelp. Usually a gem like this is busy by word of mouth. The crust was crisp and delicious the Alfredo sauce even better the pepperoni was thinly sliced the cheese fresh and delicious. The garlic was a lil hard to notice but flavor was there! See you next time Blue Dog Amanda and Stephen

Again, a convenient location to the Marriott timber lodge. We ordered takeout. The pizza was ok at best. Caesar salads were big but needed more dressing. The wings, I'm told, weren't bad. The pizza crust has Italian seasoning in it which I don't like. We ordered online and got free cinnamon sticks which I liked.

I have eaten Blue Dog Pizza since they've opened. I am a local of 38 years so I feel I have some clout to review. I have seen Blue Dog become the best in town to another floundering pizza shop in South Lake. It appears the success has gone to the owners head and attention to details has been lost. The online ordering is my preferred method, but be warned, it puts you at least an hour out, sometimes more. The delivery drivers do not know the town and are not polite in any terms. Had a couple $40 orders arrive an hour and a half after I ordered it cold and angry. I wish I could give a good review as I really strive to promote newer businesses in the town I was born and raised, however I cannot stand for those who turn their back once they have a slight success. Quite frustrating. I now order from chain pizza companies that have standards on their quality. At least I'll know what I'm getting. . .

The pizza was not nearly good enough for the poor service myself and my friends relieved. Upon entering the establishment we were greeted and kindly told to sit at any table we desired. Being veterans we chose our seats with pride. Then we proceeded to wait for half an hour, watching all other guests be served before us. Mind you, we were there before these individuals. After asking twice (once every ten minutes) when our server would take our order, finally the same guy to greet us trudged over to our table to take out drink orders. The only reason it gets 2 stars is because the pizza could have been worse and the server wasn't a total curmudgeon the entire evening. Finally the buffalo wings were bony and had hardly any meat on them.

I came here during the off season, end of April., so it wasn't super busy. Service was okay, not super friendly, but the pizza was super good. I also got wings, they were average. I built my own pizza, pepperoni and mushrooms, cooked to perfection. However, I overheard the table next to me, and their pizza was wrong, but they did take care of it on the house. I'd recommend this place.

Got takeout here TWICE while in Tahoe for a week. All the pizzas are good. We got meat lovers, pepperoni, BBQ chicken, Alfredo chicken (walk the dog). The pizza is delicious and they deliver!

Wow I am so disappointed. We ordered delivery, it took an hour and a half to arrive. The deliver guy was very rude and told us to tip prior to tipping him. The pepperoni pizza had about 3 pepperonis. It was barely above room temperature and tasted like it was sitting under a lamp for an hour. Don't try their marinara sauce, it tastes like vinegar. I think Little Caesars tastes better than what we ate.

Pretty nice pizza parlor. Pizza took longer than I expected to arrive but the pizza wasn't bad. Always love it when a pizza place are willing to split a pizza for different toppings or styles. We got half with pesto chicken and half bbq chicken. They were both good but I have had better. A little costly but not extremely bad. Love this sauce they have at your table where I sprinkled over my pizza and dipped my crust in. That was yummy.

Not a good experience, at all. I have never been so frustrated ordering pizza in my life. I am just here on vacation, and am basing this review on my one and only experience with this place. I ordered online (easy), called to add to my order, but that couldn't find my order and told me that they were too busy to hold on and that i should call their other location to see if they had my order. The other location didn't have my order and said that they couldn't have it anyway because they don't deliver. So I called back and they found my order. And then the pizza was delivered close to 4pm, 1 hour and 20 min after I placed my order. The delivery guy was nice though.

Freak' awesome pizza. Ask about the specials since they give killer deals. Wait time was zero compared to 40 minutes across the street. Pros Great crust. Not too thick and not too thin Red sauce is quite tasty Price Our server was super nice Cons One out of 4 tv's not working (I had to come up with something) Highly recommend

Best service I have ever had. Brick oven pizza in heavenly village had run out of pizza and we were sent to Blue Dog. Best suggestion they could have given. It was after 8 pm we had a 4 year old starting to melt down and there was a line out the door. Our expected 20minute wait was 10. Our pizza can fast and hot. Soon our friends came to join us 7 quickly turned into 22 and blue dog not only managed to seat all of our group together they continued to maintain an extremely high level of service. Our 4 year old pasted out at the table and we were able to stay and enjoy our friends company until closing. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and flexible.

We went here on our short vacation to Lake Tahoe, and managed to make it in to watch the final game of the World Cup. It was super relaxed and casual, and was a perfect place to grab a beer and pizza and enjoy the game. Although the pizza (meat lover's) was relatively pricy ($22), it was delicious. The service was great. It's definitely somewhere I'd visit again!

I really wanted to give this place a great review because their food was delicious, but the service was terrible. I placed an order over the phone, and when I went to pick it up, the woman behind the counter said my order was never called in. Then she asked which phone number I called. I told her I called the number on their take-out menu, which I had picked up from the restaurant earlier in the day. Immediately she got angry, and told me I must have called the number for their *other* location (both were listed on the take-out menu). OK so it was an honest mistake. I called the number on the front page of the menu... might want to update the menu with the number for the correct location on the front. Anyway, after it was established I called the wrong location, this particular employee got extremely rude, then proceeded to tell me, "You just wasted all this inventory. I don't even know if we can start another order." Great, thanks... no reason to have an attitude about it. After that, she called the other location while I was standing there... and I could hear them talking about me over the phone... "Yeah, she just wasted the order. [long pause] I know, right?" I was right in front of her! Is this how you really treat customers? After quite a battle to get a new order started, she finally processed it. But when I got my order, it was all wrong. I guess I could have expected that. Toppings were missing from my pizza. And the order of chicken wings? Only 2 were in the box. And when I went to complain? "Well, it's close to closing, so we can't change it." Probably will never be coming back here again.

We popped in for a quick lunch with our 3 and 1 year olds. It was late for lunch, so the place was pretty empty. We were directed to seat ourselves and our server was right behind us to take drink orders. The service was not overly friendly or rude, but she didn't say much or offer any input on the menu. Would have been nice to get some back and forth. I ordered the Veggie Greek 10" pizza, hubby got the pepperoni and cheese calzone, and we got the kids a 10" kids cheese. Everything was delicious! The veggie Greek was a perfect balance of salty, briny, and sweet (the caramelized onions added SO much!). Lunch for the four of us with soft drinks was $33 before tip. I would definitely stop in again.

The customer service sucks there. I will never go there. As I was walking out a group of people asked me if it was a long wait, I told them I wouldn't know because the staff was not helpful and unfriendly. They said, oh that's not good and walked right back to their cars

We pick this place second to BaseCamp pizzeria, when we should've picked up first. I visited w a group of my participants on a trip to show them what good hard work can earn them. The service was fast paced, but very friendly. All the staff treated my "special" friends w respect and truly made each one feel like a normal adult. I just couldn't thank the staff enough for making this stop one to remember. The pizza comes in two sizes Sm and Lg. The Lg is not going to fill more than two men; but will taste GREAT! The pizzas are very unique, we tried three different styles and all were just AMAZING! I will visit on our next trip. If you are going to have pizza in Tahoe: take it from us, this is the place.

I REALLY wish there was a Blue Dog Pizza in the Sacramento area, because if there was, I would frequent that place alllllllll the time. I was recently spending a weekend up in Tahoe with some of my girlfriends, and after a solid day of day-drinking, we decided that cooking dinner ourselves, or going out in public for that matter, just wasn't in the cards. So, to Yelp I turned and searched for pizza places that delivered in the South Lake Tahoe area and fell upon Blue Dog Pizza... and thank goodness I did. We scanned over the menu and decided that we would go with a standard pepperoni pizza and then order one specialty pizza. Well, one of our friends insisted on white sauce, which led us to the chicken-spinach-garlic-bacon pizza. Makes your mouth water just speaking the words, doesn't it? In addition to the two pizzas, and being that we are a bunch of girls that way over-shoot the size of our appetites, we added about 20 wings to that. Oh, and a salad. We called in the pizza and were told that it would be delivered in about 30 minutes. 30 minutes on a Saturday night in a VERY busy South Lake Tahoe?! I'll take it! You cant even get a pizza that quick on a Tuesday night back home. Our pizzas, wings, and salads arrived promptly on-time and were delivered by the darn nicest little delivery boy ever. Very polite, and not in a rush. We opened up our food and a cloud of steam came billowing off of the pizzas; Just like in the movie, "Home Alone 2" when Mccauley Caulkin opens his cheese pizza and you can practically smell the pizza through the TV screen. I kid you not, the pizza was so good, and the wings came with the sauce on the side, which left them nice and crispy until consumption. If you're in the area and looking for a great pizza joint that delivers, give Blue Dog Pizza a call.

First time here! and we came on a thursday @ 11:40.. it was a superb time! We had the whole place to ourselves and they are SO friendly. We ordered the Lake Tahoe Supreme and Wings (spicy bbq). OH MY...So delicious. The guy that worked there was always checking in with us to make sure everything tasted good and that we had fills on our drinks. When we were getting ready to pay and leave he came over with TWO sized to go boxes for our leftover pizza for me to pick from :-) SO SWEET... and thats without me asking. I will for sure revisit this place in the future! I wish nothing but the best for great tasting food and amazing service (hard to find!)

I've lived in tahoe for a while now and have been fortunate enough to live near the blue dog on midtown. Today was the first time I came to the one near Stateline, and it was absolute awful service. I came to have a quick lunch with my husband's half hour lunch break. It took over 30 minutes to get three slices of pizza with maybe 7 other people in the restaurant I will never come to this location again.

Was pretty crowded and they appeared understaffed. But they worked very hard and we had a cranky 3 year old who was about to act up. One of the servers asked if they could bring out a small bowl of bread crumbs which calmed our boy down. We were amazed how thoughtful they were.

This place was great! A group of us were taking a rest day from skiing and were visiting a bunch of spots while we drove around the lake. We stopped in this area for lunch hoping to go to Base Camp Pizza, but found out we were facing a 45+ minute wait. Not only that, but the place was clearly going to be so busy that we would feel rushed the whole time. We started wandering around, and every other place nearby was similarly crushed. When we finally meandered across the street to check out Blue Dog Pizza (we saw it while looking for parking), we found out the wait was only ~20 minutes. We were able to get our party of 6 seated quickly and ended up agreeing on some really tasty sounding pizzas - The Hair of The Dog and The Primavera. We also shared a Pesto 'Chips', which is crispy pizza dough with some basic toppings sliced up into chips. To top it all off we shared some Ichthyosaur India Pale Ale (6.4%). The whole meal was great! Absolutely hit the spot, and the toppings were great. The food was just the right amount for two guys/four girls (one big eater in our group, he cleaned up the last slice that we couldn't). The only real knock on this place was our waitress, who I'm pretty sure was just really stoned, so maybe that just added to the atmosphere. It did make getting the right number of glasses, plates, and condiments pretty difficult though.

    (4)
  • Jen D.

Ordered pizza with a half combination of their BBQ Chicken and Primavera and their hot wings. The food is pretty decent and some would say good especially if you're in Tahoe. But maybe I am just being harsh and comparing it to one of the best pizza places I have ever tried recently that is located 3 hours away... just saying. The hot wings are nice and crispy but I am accustomed to having the wings already dipped and cooked in the buffalo sauce not just fried and given the buffalo hot sauce as a dip. The staff and service was great though. They were friendly and attentive.

Let me preface this by saying the food was great but they'll never get 5 stars based on their customer service. Started out with wings and a Greek salad. The wings came out naked with the buffalo dipping sauce on the side. Loved it! Never had wings like this before. Greek salad was better than most. Ordered two pizzas, one pepperoni and one meat lovers. Took a long time to bake apparently but were both very good. The waitress could really care less event though the restaurant was less than half full we had to flag her over for water/soda refills and apparently there is a one beer limit with her because she never asked if I'd like another. As I started with, outstanding product with well below average waitstaff.

This review is for delivery. This is one of the best meals we have had in Lake Tahoe all weekend long. And one of the best ever. We ordered a gourmet pizza and a sub sandwich. Both were absolutely delicious. Both arrived piping hot and we could tell they had just been made. They were delivered directly to our hotel door. The time from phone call to food at door seemed just a little bit on the long side, but the food more than makes up for the wait. I wish we had found this a lot earlier during our stay and will try again next time we visit the lake.

With a hungry daughter and wife, I drove down to Base Camp Pizza in Heavenly Village. The day before, our restaurant hadn't been as good as we wanted it to be, so none of us were too optimistic about tonight's meal. A friendly waitress kindly informed us that the wait would be twenty minutes (we'd already put ourselves on the waiting list over the phone). As soon as our party's name was called, we were lead to a cozy table with striped couches. My daughter whispered, "I think this might actually be good." We ordered Caesar salad, cheesy garlic bread, a medium Big Mountain pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, and the free garlic fries that Yelp helped us receive. The garlic fries were so-so, but were still enjoyed. The garlic bread was savory and soft, just the way we like it. It came with marinara-like sauce. The Caesar salad's veggies were crispy and fresh, the shredded cheese was not too creamy, not too bland - just right. Then came the spaghetti and meatballs. My wife said it was the best she'd ever had in her entire life, and I had to agree. Bathed in their delicious bologna meat sauce were three perfectly cooked meatballs and perfectly chewy noodles. The pizza was good, too. Not as good as we expected, but the cheese was all melty and the meat was all well-cooked. Finally came dessert. My daughter ordered the warm chocolate chip cookie serves with vanilla ice cream, and SHE LOVED IT. The crust of the cookie was crispy and the center was puffy. It was by far the most amazing dessert any of us had ever had. We will definitely be back.

Why did we choose between Base Camp pizza and Blue Dog Pizza. Both had good food and good selections. But, Base Camp pizza doesn't deliver, higher cost, and noise crowds inside and out. personally I do not like waiting with pagers and crowd that mostly are there for convenience of the hotel being there, not being better than anyone else. Blue Dog Pizza is just across the street and has nice staff and good selection of food for the whole family. Good job.

Good pizza, but not worth the experience of having our credit card compromised and our children scared with unexpected knocks on our hotel room at night. We gave our credit card number, exp, and crv when we ordered, $36.00. We gave the driver a $6.00 tip.. Then he expected us to pay for the pizza... we told him we had paid by credit card.. He left.. Then an hour later, young kids in bed watching a movie, we hear loud knocking on our hotel room outside door. It was the delivery guy. He said we didn't pay by credit card and we needed to pay: Kids scared, movie and family time interrupted; we don't know what's going on and who we gave our credit card information to at the pizza place. We conference with the manager who insists we give the credit card information again. We are uncomfortable, but feel pressured. Afterall the delivery guy is in our room, since it was too cold to keep the door open. The manager insists that we won't be double billed. We have no receipt showing what we ordered. I asked the manager why they didn't call our cell phone and it turns out one number had been keyed in incorrectly. I asked why they didn't just call our hotel room since they knew the room number: no response. The delivery guy was caught in the middle and very apologetic. We accept the apology, but it doesn't give us much confidence in this business or change the awful experience. We liked the pizza, but don't plan to buy from this business again.

We are vegetarians so we created our own pizza with artichokes, jalapeños, pineapple & Roma tomatoes. Effing Bombay!! The crust is so good. They play good music and it's so much better than that busy ass pizza place across the st!! Oh yea Nick is awesome too!!

Excellent food, great service! It was very crowded but the pizzas were served quickly. Since they don't serve hot beverages, the waitress brought us warm water (also not on the menu). I will definitely go back here next time I want a good gourmet pizza!

Visiting from the bay and wanted to get a bite to eat on the late night. Me, and we hubby stumbled on this place and it wasn't crowed at the time. We ordered the BBQ chicken pizza and it was awesome. I would recommend this as a good place to have a bite to eat.

We originally wanted to try Base Camp Pizza but after being told that there was an hour wait for 2 at 3pm, we decided to try Blue Dog Pizza instead. We were able to walk right in and sit at a table without having to wait in line. Our waiter didn't come to us for 15 minutes. When he finally came, we ordered an 14" half Blue Hawaiian and half Supreme. Pizza was pretty good where the cheese was gooey the way I liked it and it wasn't too Crusty (I hate crust!).make sure to dip your pizza in the special orange sauce they have on the table. It gives it a nice spicy kick.. I think the only thing that was off putting was the fact that service was so slow. We waited about 15 minutes to place an order, then another 20-30 just waiting for the bill and then another 10-15 just to pay.

If you go to Lake Tahoe, Be sure to go here or at least order it. My family always has a tradition to go to Lake Tahoe, and each time we get pizza from Blue Dog. The pizza is very good and is in a great location. The main location is south tahoe is in a shipping center close to the casinos and hotels. Definitely try this place!.

Great place! There were 17 in our group and they did a great job accommodating us on short notice. All of the staff was really nice and helpful. Our 4 pizzas and cheesy bread tasted great. We will definitely go back when we are in the area.

The food was mediocre at best. It was pretty pricey in my opinion, which led me to believe it should be tasty pizza. Wrong. I'm not from here, just visiting on business. It's nice that they give you free breadsticks if you order through this app though. But breadsticks we received we're painfully over seasoned and literally painfully scratched my throat on the way down. I gave it two stars for delivering past 9:30 and it served our purpose: We were starving after a long drive, we ate.

Gave them a call for pick up before closing time. Ordered two large pizzas, meat and veggie pizza and wings. Pizzas were decent, nothing bad or great and their larges were pretty small, like medium. Wings were plain without sauce, but tasted okay.

Great pizza and terrific service. They were super busy but nonetheless provided our takeout order super fast and with a smile. Not only that, but were kindly advising other customers about pizza-making times to ensure those guests got to their nearby movie on time. And, they found and corrected a mistake we made in doing our order, and gave us the money back! Well done and delicious, Blue Dog!!

I was really surprised how well kept and spacious Blue Dog Pizza is! For a pizza spot, they served subs and really good appetizers. I have to admit the pizza crust is just how I like it. Not to thick and not to thin. Just enough dough in the middle with a nice crust. This is my new favorite pizza spot in South Lake Tahoe!

Food was good cool atmosphere all employees were nice and cool except for Cam he was extremely rude and made our experience very unpleasant his tone of voice and attitude was very rude and of course I understand it was busy but it's no excuse. Good pizza with above average crust (on the thin side which is what we wanted); could seat our party of 14 with no problem. Did not find the price out of the ordinary. Problem: the pizza was SUPER slow. 30-35 minutes for the first batch; part of our party arrived about 15 minutes after the rest of us but their pizza took another 30-35 minutes (about an hour from when we first sat down). There is no excuse for this at a pizza place because it only takes about 8-10 minutes to cook a simple cheese pizza As with the other reviews, without the A/C it was a little stuffy though not unbearable even when outside temp was in the 70's. Give it a try but don't expect super fast service. It's within walking distance of the gondola which makes for a great locale and being in the shopping center of the Ralley's makes it easy to park, too if you need to do that. Howard

Absolutely fantastic pizza. Didn't want to waste a day of my life waiting in line for the touristy pizza place across the street so opted for a sit-down dinner at Blue Dog with a buddy. The seating rules were a bit confusing (ask at bar, wait outside, sit inside) but we came on an off night so won't judge them for it. The pizza is huge, the proportions of cheese to sauce to toppings are as they should be, and the ingredients are fresh, vibrant, and distributed as they should be. The atmosphere is as you'd expect from a sports-ish bar, but you come for the food, not the vibe at this place.

Wow is this pizza delicious! The service was also fabulous. Young girl who helped us was friendly and attentive. I think she realized we were having a hard time deciding what pizza to get since there are so many amazing combos, she came and informed us we could split it. Brilliant! So we got half Hair of the Dog and half Pesto Chicken. Both were really good. I like spicy so Hair of the Dog was my favorite. I can't wait to come back and maybe try their BBQ chicken. Love this place!

We went to blue dog pizza with a rather large group. The food was delicious. We loved all of it. However, the server was overwhelmed and very crabby. He never smiled or seemed friendly. He seemed put out that we were such a large group. I don't think he understood that a large group = a lot of money!

Right from the start the service was great, we ordered the blue Hawaiian pizza. It was delicious, I could definitely taste the garlic on the crust! We will for sure be hitting this spot next time we are in south Lake Tahoe!

I have no complaints about the pizza itself, BUT this place is expensive. We got 2 large pizza's and it was 50 bucks!! We finished off the two pizza's (group of 6 ) and were still hungry. I don't feel like this was a good value.

Super friendly and accommodating staff, and VEGAN CHEESE! They offer free goodies with online order. They also issue local coupons so look in your mail flyers. Right at the base of Heavenly Ski Resort, and they have a small bar, too.

This place was great! There online ordering system made it easy to pick out what you wanted and they delivered it to a hotel room! The food was amazing and you got a lot for the price, and the cookies are a must. Any one visiting town I would highly recommend ordering or coming to this restaurant!

HEY BLUE DOG, THERESA IS THE BEST SERVER YOU HAVE! between Sidework and service she was above an behond!!! Can't tell you how many times I have been here but today I saw more work ethic embodied in a 100lb woman than I have ever seen from another staff member here (or all staff members combined). We opted for outside since we had the dogs and when we arrived Theresa was outside cleaning windows, I joked with her about how sarcastically fun that side work is... Turns out she was our server, we ordered beer and she brought beer and water for the dogs (huge plus!) we ordered the blue Hawaiian and loved it as it was as phenomenal as we know it to be. Theresa took the order and asked about apps, thank the food gods cause we had forgotten to get their wings which are our favorite in SLT! Good service skills. She checked up appropriately and brought the check out in a timely fashion (never happens here)! Before paying I went indoors to use the restroom and this amazing woman who had been cleaning windows was pushing out booths (difficult to get to bathroom with booths pulled out) and cleaning around them, sweeping, wall washing etc... It is rare to see someone going above and beyond at a restaurant. It came down to me shaking her hand, asking her name and telling her that I manage a local establishment that would be lucky to have her!!! I am more than impressed!

Awesome pizza! The delivery was quick, awesome quality. And they left an awesome message for our bride to be! Delivery guy was friendly and food (we got pizza and salad) was delicious! Thanks so much! Will definitely go here again and recommend it to friends and family!

it's really hard to have dinner with 16 people in your group. We got lucky for 2 night and got to a restaurant early enough for them to accommodate us. Night #3 was bad, We tried 3 restaurants and they could not accommodate us or the wait was 2 hours. (not with kids). We ended up going to Dragon Buffet. Yikes. Don't go there. Ewww. So on Night #4, we decided to just have pizza and wings for dinner. We found Blue Dog Pizza on Yelp and decided to try it. We ordered 3 pizzas: Hawaiian, sausage & cheese and a vegetarian one (for me) plus chicken wings. The pizzas were a hit. Everyone enjoyed them. The vegetarian pizza was very good. They topped the vegetarian pizza with a chiffonade of basil, that was a nice touch, it made the flavors pop. I loved it. The chicken wings was just deep fried (not sauced). It came with 2 sauces (on the side) Ranch and buffalo wing sauce. Plus some carrot and celery sticks. The wings were fried perfectly and both sauces worked well, specially with the vegi sticks. I preferred the ranch more than the buffalo wing sauce. The pizzas weren't cheap (nothing is here) but well worth it. i would definitely go back next time.

We loved this place. We passed up Base Camp Pizza Co for this place and we weren't disappointed. It was crowded but we were sat really fast. The guy seating folks was really cool. We got a 50/50 pesto chicken, BBQ chicken. The dough was just right, the sauce was flavorful. What else can I say...oh yeah we'll be back!! ;)

Sorry, I don't have enough time to leave a detailed review with creative linguistics and witty disses. I'm at a cabin with 14 other people. We ordered a pizza online, it said delivery available. We entered the order and our address. 2 hours later (after many phone calls to Blue Dog Pizza), they finally answered and said they don't deliver to us because we are out of their delivery zone. We are 2.6 miles / 7 minutes away. Our night and dinner plans are ruined. I'm actually glad this happened because I'm sure the pizza matches the service and lack of communication. Look some where else... Have a good night :)

Do not eat here!!!! The only real complaint I have about living in South Lake Tahoe is the atrocious customer service and overpriced poor quality food that can be found in many of our restaurants. Blue dog pizza is probably the worst pizza that I have ever had in my life and I was horrified by the experience I had dealing with them. They offer an order of free breadsticks or free cinnamon sticks when you order online. I, of course, ordered online to get the free breadsticks which was nice because I also hate having to deal with their unfriendly and rude staff. When the delivery driver showed up an hour later with my disgusting pizza he did not have my breadsticks. He told me that he was sorry; it wasn't on my ticket and then turned around to leave. I asked him if he was going to come back with my breadsticks. He informed me that he was very busy on a triple delivery and that he would call the restaurant to yell at them. An hour and a half went by and still no breadsticks or contact from the restaurant. I finally called and was told by Roxanne that I must have I ordered incorrectly because so many people have difficulty pushing the correct buttons when they order online. Really? You not only fail to apologize for getting my order incorrect, bad service and horrible food, but then you proceed to insult my intelligence? I gave up out of frustration, but I did let them know I would be giving them a bad review on yelp to show my disappointment. I will never ever order from this restaurant again!

Like I've always said about pizza: When it's good, it's great. When it's bad, it's still good. Blue Dog serves fine pizza in a friendly, noisy, family atmosphere. Pizza is good, service is good, pricing is fair. What more do you need in a pizza place? Ah, yes, they have TVs scattered around the place for all your football needs. Enjoy.

We dropped by Sunday afternoon, and it was completely empty, save for a cute little boy, whom I assume is the son of the owner, eating pizza and watching tv hehe We ordered the buffalo chips (what an innovative idea!), walk the dog, and chicken calzone all of it was pretty delicious, except the calzone could have had a little more flavor. Really wish we had a fun little unique pizza joint like Blue Dog Pizza around here!

Great : pizza, flavor, Dave was extremely helpful since we were from out of town he made thoughtful suggestions. He as a waiter really made our experience. No joke ! Salads are amazing for a pizza place. Gorgonzola for my salad was heavenly. Requested to add chicken upon my salad had my saliva gushing.

We tried to get into base camp pizza, but they were closed so we decided to try this place out nearby and we were glad we did. We showed a half hour before closing and we had the place to ourselves. The server was super nice and helpful when it came to picking out items on the menu. We got a pizza with half BBQ chicken and half Pesto chicken. They were both awesome! The kids each got their own 7" inch pizzas and those things were huge. Even my oldest son, the human garbage disposal couldn't put it all away in one sitting. We had to take home the leftovers in two boxes, but don't worry, they still tasted great for breakfast the next morning. As an added bonus, the chef threw in some tasty cinnamon sticks for dessert.

We love their pizzas and service. I feel they are much better than Base Camp Pizza. The place is always crowded with lot of take out orders, however the wait time for your pizza is very minimal. If you are in large groups, they do offer pitchers for drinks. Hope to see the same level of food quality and service on our future visits.

this place was great. the pizza was a thin crust and it tasted very good. the service was excellent. we loved our waiter. I would highly recommend the pepperoni pizza . on a Monday night this place was jam packed. I cannot imagine how long the wait would be if it was a weekend

Average to slightly above average pizza. Not bad, but nothing spectacular. Definitely better than the chains. One small complaint I have is regarding the abundance of ranch dressing that came with the food. We got wings, there was no blue cheese available- just ranch. We got bread sticks, no marinara- just ranch. I personally think dousing any food in ranch is putrid, but I understand the demand for it and why places carry it. I just expect alternatives in a decent pizza joint.

Decent spot for a bite, whether passing through SLT during an m/c road trip, or when skiing Heavenly Cute young Brasilian waitresses in winter. They'll even provide you with a fork, when you show up with your own homemade pasta dish. Buying a few rounds of beer helps avoid any stink eye from the staff if you do.

Solid 4 star pizza joint. Friendly service and yummy pizza! THE ORDER: 1/2 BBQ Chicken w extra cilantro and 1/2 primavera + jalapeños on the whole pizza: 3.5 stars - Pretty delicious! The crust was thin, and although we ordered it "well done" to ensure extra crispiness, it wasn't as "extra crunchy" as I typically like. But, obvi it was bomb, or it wouldn't get 4 stars! They had no problem bringing sides of ranch and gorgonzola at no charge :) Spinach Salad: 4.75 stars- Crispy bacon, tomatoes, red onion, toasted almonds, gorgonzola cheese with croutons and balsamic vinaigrette atop slightly wilted (because of the hot, fresh bacon) spinach- SO FREAKING GOOD! It's shocking to think that this most amazing salad came from a pizza joint. Mmmmm!! THE SERVICE: GREAT! And, they are open late! YES! Seriously, these guys are good! OVERALL: They have beer, wine, pizza, wings and salads....oh, and a smile with your order? Yes, please! I DEF RECOMMEND TO LATE-NIGHT YELPERS LOOKING FOR SOME MUNCHIES! enjoy! xo- andrea

Conveniently-located, quality pizza parlor with decent beers on tap. Husband and I were looking for a quick, inexpensive, no-nonsense dinner and we found it at Blue Dog. We ordered the Hair of the Dog pizza and really enjoyed the sweet tomato sauce against the spicy jalapenos and green chili sauce. Crust was thin, but with enough dough to not be too crispy or limp. Blue Dog's other pizza creations sounded good, too. Looking forward to trying more when we're in Lake Tahoe again. Pros: tasty, original pizza pies; outdoor seating; decent beers on tap; friendly service; walkable location; easy parking; online specials (check their website) Cons: outdoor view of parking lots; too far from home

We were next door for an art show and decided to try it. The service was excellent but the pizza was average. Small not NY style slices and just average taste. The atmosphere was average and I guess I watch too many food network shows as the guy should know what extra toppings they had. We would come back if in the neighborhood but wouldn't make a special trip. In the tourist area of Tahoe so suits the need of the area.

This place is awesome! I know it's a pizza place but the salads are delicious too. I have ordered twice in the last week for delivery. The first time the Internet was down so I called in my order. The guy who took my order was super friendly. The second time I ordered was online and they had a great deal with free cinnamon sticks or breadsticks. The cinnamon sticks were delicious! The delivery driver was super nice even though it's a rainy night on the verge of snow. He went out of his was to wish me a Happy Halloween and make a little small talk. And he pulled up blasting some music which was fun. Lol. I think his name was Seth as that's what is says on my receipt. I think I would make it a goal to order here every timeI visit Tahoe. I don't write many reviews but the super nice delivery driver... Possibly the nicest I've ever had and the delicious food were inspiring. Thanks Blue Dog and Seth!

Oh my goodness no! Went here to take my friends out to eat after work since I heard blue dog was suppose to be good but we went to the wrong location I guess. There were kids everywhere, the waitress lady was not all that friendly maybe she had a long day idk I was a waitress for years and I NEVER treated a customer so poorly. Our drinks were mixed up she gave my friends their refills in the others cup I would understand if there were more customers but there wasn't even a lot of people! She took her time with everything, but the bill for tip. I didn't give her much, I honesty don't really think she deserved it. Seating wasn't all that great either it a tight squeeze and the tables had wet spots. I'm kinda picky on things like tables and floors because I could only imagine what the kitchen is like if they don't even clean something as simple as tables. The ONLY pros about this place is that the food was eh (if that even is a pro) and it was served quickly. Oh and it was 46 for a calzone and a small pizza! Maybe it's management, maybe it's the employees, heck maybe it's both! I did not like it, not saying everybody would hate it, but go down and see it for yourself maybe you'll have a better time all I know is that I did not.

Pretty good food, and the online delivery system is really easy to use. We REALLY appreciated that they delivered to us even though we were outside their normal range. (They weren't very nice about it, but at least they did it, and we were starving by the time they called to tell us we were outside their range, so we were pretty relieved that they wound up bringing it! Of course, ideally, they would have made it clear that we were outside the range earlier in the process, such as when I called them to confirm that everything was ok with the order. But again. They did deliver, and we are grateful.)

This is a good place for a quick pick up pizza. The place if u have kids might be ok because it does have some games. The pizza was cooked well and tasted good n didn't take long to make. So like I said not much of an environment to eat in but for a quick pizza. Also has some interesting pizza choices.

I'm sorry to say the pizza was bland. The wings were good and the bead stix were okay. So taste wise about average. The price was high, the yelp button for free bread stix didn't work and the service could use a little work. Mainly because we got yelled at for their website problems. They need a new web developer. I should say I usually eat pizza in berkeley so the taste bar is set high for me.

ORDERING DELIVERY? DO IT. The first time I've ever felt compelled to write a review for a pizza place. But when you give a guy four, massive, moist, perfectly seasoned chicken fingers in a single order, I owe it to you guys to write about it. The walk the dog pizza was very good, as well. Great food, great deal.

I really enjoyed my trip to this local pizza place. The menu is interesting and they have a lot of really nice gourmet additions on some of the classic pizzas that we all know and love. Andy was our server the night and in addition to our meal he also dished up entertainment in the form of conversation and some really funny stories. Really cool guy and his positive attitude was infectious. we left feeling full and in a great mood thanks to andy's personal touch and great customer service.

I never plan to go to Blue Dog Pizza. Usually, I go to town to try something new or different. About half the time I end up here anyways. The good: Open late Friendly service Prices Specials The bad (although its not actually bad): The pizza is decent. Nothing extraordinary. As yelp puts it though, "Yay! I'm a fan."

Great food and great service this time! Teresa was a doll! She did a great job and my pizza was delicious! We started with cheesy bread, great choice with beer! In the past I experienced really unprofessional behavior from the serving staff ( horse playing and not paying attention to the tables) and the food was below my standard expectations ( salad was old and pizza was too greasy!)! This time was all great! Walk the dog a must have!

3 stars for the roma pizza and the friendly service! So the 4 of us were starving from riding bikes around the lake. . . came to this spot. . .rt near stateline! We ordered a large (12 pieces) 1/2 roma 1/2 supreme pizza it was all rt. I thought it was a bit overpriced.

Pizza is amazing. It's hard to eat because it's so good that I get emotionally attached to each slice. Mysterious orange sauce on the tables tastes like tears of kittens. Won't disappoint.

This place is kinda great. We had a Greek pizza that was delicious! They have a homemade hot sauce that is one of the best I've had. The beer was good and the happy hour price made us very happy! The only downside was the service. They seemed to not want to be bothered and it took about 15 minutes to take our order. (They did apologize.) Definitely going back, especially for Full Moon happy hour!

Had the BBQ Chicken Pizza and Pesto "Chips" and they were delicious! The pizza is up there with some of the best I've eaten. The pesto chips were basically pizza crust topped with their pesto sauce and asiago cheese with dressing to dip them in. They were delicious as well! It was so good that we took it out the next night and had the Walk the Dog pizza. It was also very good, though I like the BBQ pizza just a bit better. If you're visiting from out of town as we were, it's a fun spot to go grab delicious pizza and beer at a reasonable price. Very highly recommended!

Very good service! We came in at 10 45 at night and they still served us kindly. I must say the pizza is ok but the buffalo wings are the best! I ate it with spicy BBQ. So if I ever go to Lake Tahoe again I would definitely stop by!

Most definitely my favorite après boarding spot for a quick carb load! Great selection of beers on tap and they even offer huge single slices for $2 up to a certain time! The dude at the counter even hooked it up with an extra slice today for having to wait a lil' extra longer for our food to come out!

  • Liz M.

Great pizza! They use a herb mix in their crust and it gives the pizza good flavor. We love the blue Hawaiian. Staff is always pleasant and efficient (something hard to find in Tahoe) we always order online to get the free cinnastix.

Wandering around after a great day on the mountain, we saw Blue Dog Pizza right near where we were staying, Embassy Suites. Walking in the place was busy, but the wonderful smell of fresh pizza was too good to miss. Andy and his green toque was the really cool server we had. He was very attentive, we talked about the recent storm, he talked about where we could find him at the Hev, and was just an all around cool guy. The pizza was awesome. Simply put, it was a perfect mix of all the ingredients and a healthy dose of topping. Easily on par with some of the best of the Bay Area. I'm not sure what happened with all the others and their service. Maybe they are skiers.

We came by around 7:30 on a Saturday, right before a show at one of the casinos. It wasn't too crowded, the service was excellent and the food was tasty. We ordered one of the veggie pizzas - it was nice that they had a selection of veggie pizzas to choose from and a couple good beers to tap too. Definitely a nice retreat from the overpriced and overcrowded spots in Heavenly Village (across the street).

Lunch Special!!! Two slices and soda for 6 bucks ain't that bad. And they are good size slices too. What I like is that you get a choice of either pepperoni, cheese, or their special of the day... which happened to be a spinach, garlic, white sauce, chicken, and bacon (and yes its real bacon, not bits). Amazingly delicious. The help was really cool and friendly. Btw I don't know if it's a Tahoe thing, but this was the first place that served RC cola in their fountain... nice! So it was so good that we ordered it again two days later, this time online so that we could get the free breadsticks. And to my surprise they were actually pretty good. Awesome hang out joint. Can't wait to come back the next time I am in Tahoe.

This has been our favorite pizza place in South Lake Tahoe for several years. The Roma Pizza is what we enjoy the most with added mushrooms. Until our last visit there this week, we were extremely pleased, but..... the pizza has changed - i.e. they are substituting "canned" fire roasted stewed tomatoes for "real sliced tomatoes". To me this is unheard of. Hey, no excuses that you can't find decent tomatoes all year round. They are around, and if they are not fully ripened, let them stand a while at room temp. All other pizza places still serve "fresh sliced tomatoes" as toppings. We are so disappointed and hope they change this pizza back to the way it was, otherwise, I am sorry to say, they will lose us as customers. It was the best, now it's just "okay".....why change a good thing? I hope the owner sees this writeup and takes it seriously. (By the way, canned tomatoes or tomato paste is acceptable in the basic sauce recipe put on the pizzas, but not ever used on toppings - nothing beats fresh!) I UPGRADED MY RATING TO FOUR STARS BECAUSE THE ROMA PIZZA IS BACK ON TRACK AND THEY USED FRESH SLICES OF TOMATO AGAIN. I JUST HOPE THAT IN THE WINTER SEASON, THEY DON'T REVERT BACK TO THE CANNED ROASTED STEWED TOMATOES BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT GOOD. WE ARE REGULARS AND FIND THE SERVICE IS ALWAYS FRIENDLY AND GOOD. JUST PLEASE NO CANNED, STEWED TOMATOES!

  • Kai R.

First off, we are so, so, so confused as to WHY this place has an almost 4 star average rating? Maybe it was because it was an hour until closing time, but that's no excuse. The service was great, really nice people! BUT the pizza itself was horrendous!!! We were starving and it was still that bad... I mean, we could have gotten frozen pizza and been better off. Initially we were torn between Blue Dog and Vinni's, too bad we chose the wrong one and ruined our dinner night.

5 stars for the food, 1 star for the lame ass employee. One of the best pizzas i've ever had. Ordered the pizza online, go to pick it up and the cashier starts making fun of me for not putting in the right code. "dang, you could of saved like ten bucks! that sucks!" Sorry, never been here before, can you apply the discount? "No, sucks for you!" Great great food, terrible customer service.

Cue the tumble weed! And the western music. And the desolation. Well, more like isolation. We rolled up here as the first stop on our scenic route to Reno from SF via SLT. It was the first day. I'd been driving for 3 hours. With my parents. Who hadn't seen me in 2 months. And they would not stop talking. But in a good-ish way. We ordered a BBQ chicken pizza, beer for my father (his 5th pint ever), a diet coke for me, and water for my mother. The pizza was piping hot and delicious. There is only 1 size. The toppings were plentiful and not skimpy. The BBQ was a touch sweet for my taste but it sure tasted good the next morning. I love leftovers. I think if I ever come back, I'd like to try something ordinary. Like the plain cheese or the pepperoni. It's the baseline upon which to measure greatness. Like the hot-and-sour soup in Chinese restaurants. The service was quick and very friendly. I asked about the empty store since it was also a rather big space tucked behind a Raley's shopping center, across from Heavenly or something like that. We were in the 1-2 week slow period but apparently ppl start pouring in here for the summer sports soon. But how? That lake is FREEZING. Only crazy people would... oh right. Extreme sports. Ha. I get it.

Sandwich was burnt. Garlic chips had about a clove of fresh garlic in each bite. They looked so good and I wanted to eat them, but the overwhelming garlic was absolutely rediculous. French Bread Pizza was the best thing, but the crust was somewhat soggy and the pizza sauce was average at best. Stay away

Conveyer belt pizza - pretty lame. Could have made better pizza from digiorno from grocery store. Wings were ok - obviously frozen and sauce on the side. Hi ratings must come from people that have never had real pizza before!

My husband and I were vacationing on South Lake recently and we were hungry around 10. Our hotel restaurant was closed so we called the front desk and asked for a pizza place that would deliver late. They refered us to Blue Dog pizza. We ordered a medium pizza and a salad. It was a quick delivery, a very tasty pizza, and a great deal! It was exactly what we had wanted for an inexpensive late night meal.

hhhmmm pizza joint in south lake....pretty standard.....random ski bum servers singing along to DMB and Metallica but forgetting to bring forks.....haphazard dining room.....slow service but EXCELLENT calzones! I LOVE ME A CALZONE! and these are huge...definitely big enough to share and pretty inexpensive for all of the food you get. salad + beer + pop + calzone = 25$

4 or 5 stars? you guys must be very very drunk and shouldn't write review until you sober up or not while drinking. customer service sucked and was run by overaged teenager, most likely seasonal, that have no idea of customer service. i stood in line, in front of some cute, clueless blond for like 10 minutes with others. all the other cuties just came and went without saying anything to the customers. place was packed, most likely the beer, and was hard to find. it was in the back of the mall towards some back alley corner. the food. i ordered the half pesto chicken and half lake tahoe. when someone mentioned that they didn't packed the ingridents on, they were right. i thought i ordered a cheese pizza. very expensive, for a so called large pizza $25.00. the pizza was soggy and limp. could have saved myself $20.00 and ordered a better, bigger pizza from either Costco or Domino's. 2 stars because the customers and staffs were good looking. a lot of fine girls inside.

Pretty good pizza. Not spectacular but worth the visit if you are staying near the casinos. Waiter got our order wrong and delivered appetizers after the pizza but took the charge off the bill. Service could be better. They were pretty busy on a weeknite earlier this week. A bit pricey for a pizza parlor but we'd go again.

Yum! This pizza was so delicious, and I know pizza. :) We ordered this the other night as a late night snack, and it was delivered pretty quickly. We ordered a pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, and sausage, and an order of buffalo pizza chips. We were extremely impressed with the pizza. The dough was mixed with herbs that made it that much more tasty. It was very cheesy, just how we liked it, and the toppings were plentiful. My one tiny complaint is that the sausage tasted more like breakfast sausage than italian sausage... A little odd... The pizza chips, which were basically small pieces of pizza dough, covered with buffalo wing sauce and lots of cheese, and they came with blue cheese dressing for dipping. We loved these. If I'm in Tahoe again and craving pizza, I would DEFINITELY order from here again!

Yummy yummy yummy I got love in my tummy.... That is how I felt leaving Blue Dog. The only complaint is beer prices are a bit high and their sauce a tad thin...I like a nice thick red sauce. Loved the addition of herbs to the crust...hated that I ate so much ;-) Guys...you need a new logo. HUGE opportunity for great t-shirts missed!

Tucked away spot behind Raley's. You have to come looking for pizza to find it. They take care of their customers. We wanted to make our own pizza in our cabin and bought pizza dough. They not only rolled each dough out but provided superlarge paper plates to go in between the dough, saran wrapped the package and then provided the flour to help with the baking sheet. Nice herb crust that finished to perfection.

Great pizza, at fair price. I was particularly impressed with the bread/crust.

A solid 3.5 stars for a combination of quick and friendly service, baby-appropriate atmosphere, and pretty decent food and beer to warm us up on a cold day. It was a bit noisy, and the doors keep a constant draft coming in if you sit near the front, but after walking out of several other restaurants with long waits and unaccomodating servers, Blue Dog was a great find for our party of five plus baby. The host/cashier quickly got us our beers to sustain the wait, which turned out to be less than ten minutes. And the pizza with bacon and jalapenos was better than we all expected and was served without any of the attitude we found down the street!

NASTY! Little Cesar's is better than Blue Dog. The girl at Pizza Hut (we stopped for drinks) recommended this place to us and I feel like kicking her ass. Her only saving grace was that she made a mean kamikaze! Seriously, I could have done better making some Boboli's. Nothing about this place is any good. We got two pizzas (one combo and one pepperoni) neither one barely had any toppings, the cheesy bread was hard as a rock and their wings were just "ok" - the only part one of my kids would eat was the crust. Pass on this place entirely. I highly unrecommend this place.

As a local, I have had a chance to eat at just about every pizza place in town. THIS ONE IS GREAT! The pizza is always good. I have had spotty service but they try real hard.

We ABSOLUTELY love this place. We first found it about 3 years ago, when we were staying in a nearby hotel because our cabin was double booked. At first we were tentative because it was located in a bowling alley, but we're glad we gave it a try. The buffalo wing chips are fantastic!! They have buffalo wing sauce, gorgonzola cheese and a thin crust that is oh so delicious. I do not like cold pizza but this is the one I will eat the next day right out of the refrigerator. The waiters there are young, friendly and know how to take care of the customer. The atmosphere is very comfortable and they removed a wall, so now you can also watch the bowling action. We've tried the one that is located by Raley's but the vibe at the bowling alley is more relaxed and I think the service is way better.

Nice little pizza place right by the heavenly ski village. Nothing to complain about the taste of the pizza. After a day of hardcore ski/snowboarding this is the place u wanna go fuel up on. Meat lovers pizza and fresh pitcher of brew. Thats how you gotta do it !

I am a local and have eaten here for a long time..... and have never been treated like crap than more than in 2010! Please look at who you hire because I was unemployed for a LONG time and SHOULDN'T be treated this way considering the person talking shit... was a recent transient trying to make a living here in tahoe!
